Mr. Chen Jiansheng Tortured to Death at the Zaozihe Forced Labour Camp

On October 11th, 2005, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Chen Jiansheng from Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province was tortured to death in Zaozihe Labour Camp. His family was ordered not to hold a memorial or a funeral.

Mr. Chen Jiansheng was 49 years old and was an employee of the Xi'an City Industrial and Commercial Bank. He began practising Falun Dafa in 1997. As a result, all of his ailments disappeared and he benefited from the practice both mentally and physically. After the persecution of Falun Dafa began on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Chen was arrested and detained in brainwashing centres many times because he refused to give up his belief in Dafa.

On December 23rd, 2004, Chen Jiansheng was arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution in a crowded shopping area. The police ransacked his home and took away his computer and other valuable items. After being detained in a detention centre for more than a month, Mr. Chen was sentenced to 18 months in the notorious Shaanxi Province Zaozihe Labour Camp. To protest the persecution, Chen Jiansheng started a hunger strike after the Mid-Autumn Festival (October 6th, 2005), and was tortured to death on October 11th, 2005.

The main responsible persons for Mr. Chen Jiansheng's death are: Zaozihe Labour Camp Director, Zhang Shilu (male); and Brainwashing Centre Head, Feng Xiyao (male, who often beats practitioners, and encourages others to torture practitioners; Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Yao Jingmin was also killed at his hands).
