On March 24th, 2005, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Qi Lanying from Longhua County, Hebei Province was arrested when posting banners exposing the persecution, and was tortured in the County Detention Centre until her life was in danger. Police kept going to her house to harass her and tried to extort money. She died in November 2005. Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Yu Bo and Mr. Dong Jingxiang also died under persecution. Ms. Qi Lanying, 51, lived in Dongjie Village, Longhua County, Hebei Province. She had diabetes before she learned Falun Dafa, and was cured after practising. She was first arrested in May 2003 while posting leaflets exposing the persecution. She was detained in Longhua County Detention Centre, her body was severely injured, and officials extorted three thousand yuan1 from her.
She was arrested the second time on March 24th, 2005 when she was posting a banner exposing the persecution, and again she was detained in Longhua County Detention Centre, where she was cruelly tortured. She was already extremely weak, but the guards still shackled her legs, dragged her by her hair, and forced her walk in circles in the yard. She was picked up by her family when she was dying. Local police still went to her house to harass her constantly, threaten her, try to extort more money, and try to arrest her daughter. Her family did all they could to persuade Ms.Qi to renounce her practice. This hurt her more than anything else. She died in November 2005.
Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Yu Bo, 60, was a retired doctor from Longhua County Women's and Children's Hospital. After the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, she was harassed by the police many times and was locked in a brainwashing centre. The police later arrested her at her home, detained her, and released her after her family paid several thousand yuan in extortion. Under the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution, she suffered huge pain and pressure, and died in the first half of 2005.
Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Dong Jingxiang was in his 50s and lived in Taishanhou Village, Longhua County, Hebei Province. He used to do small business, and his wife was also a Falun Dafa practitioner. After July 20th, 1999, both he and his wife were detained many times, forced go through brainwashing sessions, and extorted of several thousand yuan. In November 2000, Mr. Dong was sentenced to two years of forced labour and then was bailed out by paying seven thousand yuan. His wife paid an additional 3350 yuan. Later, his wife was sentenced to forced labour, his life was very difficult, and he had to give up cultivation under huge financial and mental pressure. He became very ill and died in 2004.
Longhua County is a well known poor mountain area. During the past five years, the villains from the Longhua County State Security Division of the Police Department arrested Falun Dafa practitioners in order to extort money. They sentenced practitioners to forced labour, and then let them out after fines were paid.
On February 25th, 2005, nine Falun Dafa practitioners from Longhua County went to the countryside to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution . They were reported, and detained in the County Detention Centre. Three families were extorted of various sums of money (and released).
