I'm a middle school dropout who moved to Beijing. I worked very hard at a restaurant and sold vegetables at a market for very little income. Later, I was influenced by the declining morals in society. I succumbed to the bad influence of a group of ruffians from my hometown, became a member of a gang, became deceitful, and participated in dishonest business dealings.
I delivered counterfeit money and resold train tickets at a great profit. We committed much wrongdoing and many evil deeds at Tiananmen Square in 1999. Ostensibly we sold cold drinks and took pictures. Although we were from Henan and Anhui Provinces, we spoke the Beijing dialect fluently. Tourists visiting Tiananmen Square could not tell us from the locals. Those who sold "Sanmao cold drinks" would yell, "Sanmao ice pops! Ice pops only thirty cents." We would ask for two yuan once the tourist had the ice pop in his or her hand. If the tourist refused to pay, we claimed that Sanmao brand ice pops sell for two yuan each. If the tourist refused to pay, we would beat him. As for taking pictures, we used a camera that cost twenty yuan and the film five yuan. We told people that we would take a whole roll of pictures. After we took the pictures, we asked for 70 yuan and then gave them the film to have it developed. If they asked us to develop the film, we said that we charged ten yuan per picture. Of course the tourist did not want to pay that much, so several of us would surround the tourist and force him or her to pay. If the tourist refused, we would beat him/her. Although we called our activities "selling cold drinks" and "taking pictures," they were really a form of robbery.
The policemen on duty at Tiananmen Square required each of us pay them 30 yuan per day to continue our deceptive activities at Tiananmen Square. They also told us to help them capture the "Gong people" (the Falun Gong practitioners). These policemen told us, "You will recognise the Gong people because they yell 'Falun Dafa is good' and they hold up banners. You have to beat them, grab their hair, and don't let them run away. Bring them to us." When we beat the "Gong people" we robbed them of their money. We conducted shady businesses, committed misdeeds, robbed, and beat people on Tiananmen Square. The police did not care at all. They pretended they did not see us. If the tourists who were beaten reported us to the police or asked the police on Tiananmen Square for help, the police arrested us and took us to the Tiananmen Square Police Station in a police car. However, when they transferred us, as well as others, to different locations at night, they opened the car door half way and said, "Get out of here." They let us go. The next day, we returned to Tiananmen Square and continued swindling and mistreating tourists.
I committed all these crimes. I already know that I was in the wrong. I speak about them now, because I will no longer commit such crimes. I now know the truth about the "Falun Gong practitioners," whom the police told us to capture and bring to them. Falun Dafa practitioners are all good people. They don't hit back or curse back when they are hit and cursed at. They didn't say anything when we robbed them. We beat and captured nearly a thousand, if not more, Falun Dafa practitioners. They all said only a few sentences, "What you are doing is illegal and wrong" and "You are doing evil deeds and will be punished." At that time we did not pay any attention and frankly didn't care.
After 2001, however, some of us were involved in a car accident, others became sick, and still others suffered severe problems at home. I, myself, almost lost my life from a severe illness and spent all my family savings. At that time I was convalescing at home. Elderly family members who knew the evil deeds I had done told me many times, "This is punishment for the evil things that you have done. God did not let you die. He is doing you a favour. You should not continue to lead a bad life but should walk a new path." Later, someone told me about Falun Gong and about the principle of "karmic retribution." I understand now! I really do! I will no longer commit any crimes! At this time, I still work in Beijing, but at an honest job. I no longer earn my income dishonestly.
I feel truly regretful whenever I think about the bad things I have done. I very much want to do something to repair the damage I brought to others. Recently, someone introduced the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party to me. Unfortunately, I have not read this book. I was an evil person and committed crimes at Tiananmen Square. But what kind of people are those police officers who ordered and assisted us in doing evil deeds? We can only call them evil policemen. But the Tiananmen Square Branch Police Station is the communist's "forerunner branch." Then what kind of party is the Communist Party? We can only call them an evil and demon party. I saw the "Falun Dafa announcement" posted on utility poles. I know the Day of Judgement is coming closer and closer. I used to advise my partners to stop committing crimes, but they didn't listen to me. They are still committing crimes at Tiananmen Square. Once more, I advise those who are still swindling tourists, as well as the policemen at Tiananmen Square, "The cause of my severe illness was punishment for the bad things I have done. Because I still held compassion in my heart, the gods didn't take my life. If you still don't listen to my advice, what will happen to you when all evil people are being punished? Will the gods still save your lives? It's hard to say."

(1) Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party: Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party is a series of essays published in late 2004 that reveal the true nature of the Communist Party. The Nine Commentaries have led millions of people to renounce their membership in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and come to gain a clearer understanding about the wrongful persecution against Falun Gong. "A book that has shocked all Chinese around the world. A book that is disintegrating the Communist Party." http://ninecommentaries.com
