Falun Gong practitioners had the opportunity to show the travelling exhibition “Fields of Shame” in the German coastal city of Rostock during the weekend of November 12th. The exhibition has been shown nationwide and it displays pictures and photographs of human rights violations and torture methods used in different countries. The photos are fixed to chain-link fences. Many of the scenes are from China. We had been invited to participate in the exhibition to show torture methods brutally applied to thousands of peaceful Falun Gong practitioners in China.
The traditional Chinese cultivation practice, Falun Gong, was prohibited in China in July 1999 and has since been brutally persecuted by the Communist Party. People are being taken to labour camps illegally and beaten and tortured because of their belief in “Truth, Compassion and Tolerance”. Approximately 2780 cases of the persecution have ended in death.
The exhibition was shown at the Neuer Market Square in the centre of Rostock and attracted many interested viewers. We selected a good spot to place our booth, which was visible from all sides. Even as we were still setting up, the first visitors arrived and looked at the pictures painted by practitioners of the torture methods, with interest and horror. The visitors happily signed our petition demanding an end to the persecution and suing the former head of the CCP, Jiang Zemin who initiated the persecution.
People were touched that we were fighting for human rights and against the terrible persecution despite the cold weather. One gentleman was so fascinated by Zhuan Falun [the main text of Falun Dafa] that he wanted to purchase it then and there. He told us that he knew at once when he picked up the book that it was no coincidence that he came upon our booth. He bought the book and wanted to start reading it, as soon as he got home.
Children were also attracted to come and take a look, and one little girl wanted to touch the transmitter which played our exercise music, while a practitioner demonstrated the exercises. One handicapped girl and her brother remained in front of the pictures for a long time. When we told them about the injustice and about the principles of Falun Gong, the girl looked at us with bright eyes. Many people are awakening and recognise the injustice happening in China right now. They cannot understand why such a peaceful meditative practice is being persecuted and prohibited.
People are waiting for us and want to hear about Falun Gong. At one point, I got very cold and couldn’t bear the winter weather when a friendly person approached me, touched my shoulder and encouraged me to continue. That day, I felt as if time stood still. This enabled many people to find us and to hear the truth about Falun Gong. It was a day of harmony which ended when we took down our booth and the exhibition.
Falun Gong is wonderful.
