On December 25th, 2005, more than four thousand Falun Gong practitioners from across Taiwan gathered in front of Chungcheng Memorial Hall square to form a Falun--the emblem of Falun Gong. This is the first time Falun Gong practitioners formed the grand and magnificent "Falun Emblem" over the past six years since the Chinese Communist regime initiated its persecution campaign against Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. Many local media outlets came to conduct interviews and cover the event, and many local people were attracted to watch.

When Falun Gong was introduced to the public in 1992, it was very well received by the general public in mainland China because of its tremendous effects on healing illnesses and keeping fit. According to an official investigation conducted in 1998, the number of Falun Gong practitioners had reached 70 million to 100 million. These practitioners regained their health, upgraded their moral standards, and saved a large amount of medical expenses for the country. Everywhere across China, thousands of people could be seen doing the exercises in large groups every the morning. In 1997, in Wuhan City and in Guangzhou City in 1998, nearly 5,000 practitioners participated in the formation of the "Falun Emblem," displaying Falun Gong's widespread flourishing situation in China at the time.
In July 1999, out of jealousy of the large number of people practising Falun Gong, Jiang Zemin colluded with the Chinese Communist Party to initiate a persecution campaign. They controlled the state media to constantly fabricate false news or lies to incite people's hatred toward Falun Gong. They concocted many lies, such as the self-immolation incident at Tiananmen Square, charges of killing others, accumulating wealth by unfair means and so on. Jiang's regime adopted a lot of methods to brutally persecute Falun Gong practitioners, including ransacking homes, fines, threats, abduction, detention, implication, brainwashing, torture and forced administration of psychiatric drugs that led to mental breakdowns. As of today, 2799 Falun Gong practitioners have died as a result of persecution. Hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners across China have been sent to forced labour without trial, tortured to disability, expelled from schools, fired from jobs, driven to homelessness and had their families broken up.
Taiwan and mainland China have inherited the same culture, although Taiwan currently has a completely different situation. It has been ten years since Falun Gong was introduced to Taiwan in 1995. Because Falun Gong benefits people both physically and mentally, it has gained widespread support and recognition from administrative departments of the government, legislative yuan, local legislature, and lawyers. President Chen Shui-bian and Vice President Annette Lu have publicly showed their support for Falun Gong. Taipei Mayor Ma Ying-jeou also came in person to a Falun Gong rally and denounced the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong. Falun Gong practitioners in Taiwan are from all walks of life--including university professors, doctors, lawyers, teachers, civil servants, students, police officers and homemakers. At Taiwan University, several dozen professors and other faculty and graduate students are practising Falun Gong. At present, there are more than 400,000 Falun Dafa practitioners in Taiwan, and nearly 1,000 practice sites, which shows flourishing development.
But the situation of Falun Gong in mainland China forms a stark contrast with the situation in Taiwan:
Over the past 13 years since Falun Gong was introduced to the public in 1992, Falun Gong has been widely spread to 78 countries and regions, and has brought physical and mental wellbeing to 100 million people around the world. But in its country of origin, China, people have been deprived of the freedom to learn and practise Falun Gong because of the senseless suppression imposed by Jiang's regime and the Chinese Communist Party. Over the past six years, Falun Gong practitioners in mainland China have been risking their lives to peacefully resist, to speak their words of justice and true concern on Tiananmen Square. Practitioners outside of China have also been making truth clarification efforts, such as making phone calls and sending faxes to the mainland. As a result, many people who have been affected by the lies and propaganda and were unable to have a clear understanding of the situation, have gradually become clear-headed and learned about truth, and have learned that Falun Gong has been wronged and framed.

It was really touching and amazing to see more than four thousand practitioners form the Falun Emblem. in light of the Guangzhou City practitioners' formation of the Falun Emblem in 1998. Before the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong, groups of practitioners all over China had also created such grand and splendid scenes. While the CCP is still brutally persecuting Falun Gong, Taiwan practitioners' formation of the symbol of Falun Gong, "Falun Emblem," creates a grand occasion of free learning and practising outside of China, and also gives active spiritual support to Falun Gong practitioners in mainland China.
