Germany: Practitioners in Berlin Demonstrate Outside the Thai Embassy

Falun Gong practitioners in Berlin have demonstrated outside the Thai Embassy since December 28th 2005. They are calling for the immediate release of the illegally detained practitioners in Thailand and hope through their actions, to encourage Thailand not to cave in to pressure from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)

Taiwanese and Germans freely accepted leaflets. The Embassy’s visitors showed deep interest concerning this issue. The Ambassador could see the banner when she passed us in her car. Also, staff from the Embassy visited over and over again, as they wanted to see our solemn vigil.

The coming days will also find practitioners in front of the Thai Embassy in Berlin, in an effort to expose the situation in Thailand.

Background

The Thai police treated peacefully meditating and protesting Falun Gong practitioners roughly, when they protested in front of the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok on December 10th 2005, International Human Rights Day. It was noted that dozens of Thai police went into and left the Embassy, who then crossed the street and searched the practitioners roughly, who were demonstrating against the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong in China. The police arrested some of them and confiscated their banners. One of the officers told the practitioners that he really did not want to break up the demonstrations, but was following orders from the Chinese Embassy.
