Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Wu Diahui was a young lecturer employed by the Changzhou City Normal College in Jiangsu Province. He was persecuted by being locked in a mental hospital, a tuberculosis hospital and a labour camp by his employer and city police. This severely damaged his health, and he died of tuberculosis on February 11th, 2006.

Mr. Wu Dianhui, 34, earned his Master's Degree from the Shanghai Eastern China Normal University, and was employed by the Changzhou City Normal College in Jiangsu Province. On October 30th, 1999, he was arrested along with his wife when they were resting in Tiananmen Square, and were brutally beaten in the police vehicle. Upon returning to Changzhou City, they were locked in a brainwashing class for ten days. Mr. Wu was tortured by being forced to stand for three entire days by Cultural Security Officer Yao (in charge of the Campus Security of Colleges in Changzhou City) of the Changzhou City Police Department. Later, the Changzhou City Normal College forced the young couple to do physical labour instead of teaching, and took away their promised family housing.

In early April 2000, Mr. Wu Dianhui went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, and was detained in the Changzhou City Police Department. After he was released, his employer and personnel workers from the Changzhou City Higher Education Committee broke into his house (off campus), took the couple's personal belongings, and forced them to live in a family dorm on campus so they could be closely monitored. By the end of April 2000, Mr. Wu and his four-months pregnant wife had been tricked into being locked in the PLA #102 Mental Hospital. Even his pregnant wife was force-fed drugs and injected with medicine while tied to a bed. In late June 2000, Mr. Wu Dianhui was arrested at a park gate. Officers from the city police department and his employer fabricated a story that he had tuberculosis, and locked him in a special tuberculosis hospital for one week.

On May 1st, 2001, Mr. Wu Dianhui was secretly arrested on the street by local police. After more than ten days, his family received a forced labour sentencing statement, with a two year term. His son was only eight months old at the time. Mr. Wu's employer received an upper level order to strictly limit his wife's personal freedom, which forbade her to contact other Falun Dafa practitioners and did not allow any people to visit her.

Mr. Wu Dianhui was locked in the Jiangsu Province Dafengfangqiang Forced Labour Camp, where he was tortured with electric baton shocks, deprived of sleep for over one week, beaten by prisoners, locked in the small cell1, and brutally force-fed, among other abuse.

Wu Dianhui was released on January 1st, 2003. Due to severe injury received in the forced labour camp, Mr. Wu did not recover from the tuberculosis he had contracted, and became thinner and thinner. He was hospitalised twice and died on February 11th, 2006, leaving his wife, his five-year-old son, and his aged parents.

Note

1. Small Cell - The detainee is locked up alone in a very small cell. The guards handcuff the practitioner's arms behind his/her back in a fixed position, in which the practitioner can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunshine comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell. During the night rats run around. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
