In late September 2005, police from the Heping Police Department in Tianjin City destroyed a Falun Gong site site producing leaflets exposing the persecution, arrested practitioner Ms. Jiang Lili and ransacked her house.
Ms. Jiang went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and she suffered severe harm both physically and mentally from the torture. In a hospital, she was later diagnosed with a brain tumour, but the police from the Heping Police Department refused to release her and continued to persecute her. Ms. Jiang Lili is now bedridden with incontinence. The police extorted a total of several thousand yuan1 from Jiang Lili's various family members.
Ms. Jiang's mother, who is in her 80s, stays at Jiang's home, and she cannot afford medical treatment for her illness. The whole family is in a very difficult situation.
