The Persecution of Dafa Practitioners in Chengdu City

Practitioner Lin Xiaoquan from Qingshi Village, near Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, was arrested by local police on July 27th, 2005, and released on July 31st. After Lin Xiaoquan gradually recovered, people from the Xindu District 610 Office¹ and the Xinfan Town local police station broke into Lin's home again and arrested him.

Lin Xiaoquan was illegally imprisoned in Chengdu Detention Centre and the Xindu Detention Centre, where he suffered brutal torture from beatings and other cruel methods of torture. Lin's body and psychological state were seriously damaged. At present, he is imprisoned in Xindu District Detention Centre.

On the night of June 29th, 2005, when Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Yang Congqing and another practitioner were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution, they were arrested and imprisoned in Xindu District Detention Centre. In the detention centre, Mr. Yang was forced to wear shackles and handcuffs. Mr. Yang couldn't stand up straight nor could he put on or take off his clothing. The responsible policeman, Zhang Hui, pressured Mr. Yang by telling him if he didn't write a guarantee statement², if he continued to tell others about Falun Gong, or if he didn't write a repentance letter, they would not unlock the shackles and handcuffs, and they would imprison him indefinitely.

When practitioner Ms. Huang Xiangling hung up a Falun Dafa banner, she was arrested by the police and sent to the detention centre and persecuted by officers from the Sanhe Police Station. They didn't let her sleep and forced her to wear shackles and handcuffs. Her legs became black from bruising and swelled to the width of her trousers from the beatings. Her hands were handcuffed to a stool. The handcuffs cut into her flesh. A month later the detention centre authorities signed a release card, but the Xindu District Mulan Town government and police station wouldn't let her leave and imprisoned her in the police station. Ms. Huang escaped but since then she has had to become homeless and can't return home. In the past year, the authorities have continuously and harassed Ms. Huang's family and threatened them, saying that if they caught her, they would sentence her to prison for six or seven years. Under such intense pressure, Ms. Huang's mother in-law and husband both became sick and thin due to constant worry.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Xiuhua began to practise Dafa in 1997 and entered a state of good health and peace of mind. Her relationship with her family also became harmonious. After July 20th,1999, when the persecution started, Ms. Wang and her fellow practitioners went to Beijing to appeal in 2000. In Tiananmen Square where there were a lot of police, she was arrested just because she acknowledged she was a practitioner. Ms. Wang was sent back to a local detention centre and detained for 15 days.

In November 2000, she was again detained and imprisoned for 15 days. During the New Year's holiday, local town government officials and police from the local police station arrested her from her home, took her to the detention centre, and imprisoned her for one month. After Jiang Zemin's political rogue gang created the staged "self-immolation¹" incident, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) detained her for another 15 days. On October 25th, 2002, Ms. Wang Xiuhua was arrested from her home and taken to a local brainwashing centre by the town government and local police. In the centre they tried to force practitioners to give up their belief in Falun Dafa. Ms. Wang was imprisoned for five months and suffered inhuman torture. At the end of 2003, the town government and local police came again and took her away from her home to the notorious Xinjin Brainwashing Centre, imprisoning and persecuting her for one month.

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

2. "Guarantee Statement": A statement to declare that one is remorseful for practising Falun Gong and guarantees not to practise Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.

3. The "Tiananmen Self-Immolation" [an incident on Tiananmen Square in January 2001 whereby four people set themselves alight and the Chinese Communist claimed they were Falun Gong practitioners, yet there was video evidence to strongly disprove this claim]
