Jin Chunqing, 58, was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. Before he started to practise Falun Dafa, he often had headaches, tonsil problems, coronary heart disease, and high blood pressure. The diseases were gone after he started to practise Falun Gong. In March 2000 he appealed for Dafa in Beijing and was sent back to Shuangcheng City Detention Centre to be "illegally detained1" for one month. He was also fined 1,800 yuan2. In November 2000 he went to Beijing again. He was once again arrested , escorted back, and fined 500 yuan. This time he was detained for eight months in Shuangcheng City Detention Centre. After he had been detained in solitary confinement, he was sent to the Wanjia Health Centre. The jail hospital doctor claimed that his heart was lacking blood and gave him unknown injections. Mr. Jin became weaker. After he was sent back to Shuangcheng City, his work unit deducted 2,000 yuan from his salary. The district police often harassed him at home, and he was under tremendous mental pressure. His body showed abnormal symptoms and he seemed not to be very clear minded. He passed away on April 8th, 2006.

Ms. Sun Guizhi, 81, was a resident in Yangtun Village, Zhuanghe City, Liaoning Province. She started to practise Falun Gong before 1999. Multiple contact people in her district have been arrested since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Dafa. She and her husband depended on their pensions. The official in charge of the pensions in her town often threatened her to give up practising Falun Dafa. She firmly resisted, and so the official withheld or extorted their subsistence pensions from them. The couple was in a very difficult condition, and Ms. Sun Guizhi passed away on March 9th, 2006.

Ms. Sun Liru, 56, was a former employee of the Youyi Candy Plant of Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. She was very healthy after she started to practise Falun Dafa in 1997. After the CCP started to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, the Jiaxi Police Station of Jiamusi City often disturbed her. She went to Beijing to appeal in 2001 and was detained in Jiamusi Detention Centre. After a month, the Yonghong Branch of the Police Station fined her family and then released her. In May 2002 the whole city was searching for Falun Dafa practitioners. Jiaxi Police Station broke into her home to arrest her. Ms. Sun was forced to leave home and could not get in touch with other practitioners. She suffered both mentally and physically. When she went home in 2005, she had become very thin and weak, far from the 190-pound person she had been. She could hardly walk and passed away on February 24th, 2006.

Ms. Miao Yulan, 47, was a practitioner from Tianshui City, Gansu Province. In 2004, she was reported for distributing materials exposing the persecution. Police officers Pei Guilin, Zhang Baoyong, and officials illegally arrested her, ransacked her home, and hounded her for a long period of time. Her body and mind were severely damaged. She passed away on March 25th, 2006.

Note

1. Illegally arrested: Contrary to what former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, who initiated the persecution, and the Chinese Communist Party would like the world to believe, practising Falun Gong is NOT illegal in China. Although the Public Security Department issued an unconstitutional set of restraints on the practice at the onset of the persecution in 1999, no laws have been passed by the only legislative body in China, the People's Congress, banning Falun Gong or granting the police the authority to arrest Falun Gong practitioners for practising the exercises or distributing flyers. For a more complete discussion of the illegality of the persecution of Falun Gong, please refer to the article "The Ban on Falun Gong—A Dictator's Whim, Not the Rule of Law". (Variation: "illegally sentenced")

2. "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.
