Mr. Li Shangchun was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Heze City, Shandong Province. On January 6th, 2004, he and his wife Guo Aiying went to Chenliang Village, Zuoying Township to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution and were reported. At around 6:00 p.m. in the evening, Chen Baodong from the Political and Security Section of the County's Police Station, policemen Xing Jianhua and Wang Guilin, and others from the Heze City and Mudan District 610 Office1 drove in several police cars and broke into Li Shangchun's home. The police took both Mr. Li and Mrs. Guo to the Mudan District 610 Office. They also took away their computer, CD burner, and a copy machine, all of which had just been bought, and some Falun Dafa books and materials. Guo Aiying was sent to a forced labour camp and Li Shangchun was released after paying a large portion of a three thousand yuan2 fine. However, after being released, he was followed and threatened. Li Shangchun experienced extreme mental pressure and stress which led to the relapse of his high blood pressure and heart condition which he used to suffer from before he practised Falun Gong. In the autumn of 2005, Mr. Li died as a result of the ongoing persecution.
Ms. Dong Guanfang, 41 years old, was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Fulu Village, Boxing County, Shandong Province. In August 2003, she and her husband were forced into a homeless situation due to the persecution. In February 2004, Ms. Dong and her husband were arrested and put into jail. In May 2004, Dong Guanfang was sentenced to six years and her husband was sentenced to nine years. Both were sent to Ji'nan City. On September 9th, 2005, it was discovered that Ms. Dong had acute sapraemia (a form of blood poisoning) and many other illnesses. On September 9th, the prison told her family to take her home. They took Ms. Dong to Ji'nan, Binzhou and other places for medical treatment and found out that there was no cure for her illnesses. She died on November 27th, 2005.
Ms. Jing Shumin was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Yujiazhuang Village, Baoding City, Hebei Province. In 1999, due to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) intense persecution, Ms. Jing went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. After she returned home, the airport police and Xishanbei Township 610 Office kept harassing her. They forced her to report to the village office every day and also frequently asked her to report to the township office. The CCP's local officers also forced Ms. Jing to climb up a mountain to dig holes for planting trees. The local officer condemned Falun Dafa and its founder in front of Jing Shumin. Jing Shumin explained the true situation of Falun Dafa to them and also said that Teacher Li is innocent. They got very angry after hearing what she said, and then forced her to use her hands to dig the tree holes. They also threatened that if she said any good words about Dafa, they would fine her a large amount of money, or put her under the baking sun. Jing Shumin's husband was not at home and their child was only a few years old. He had a fever and there was nobody to care for him. The local officer would not allow Ms. Jing to go home to care for her toddler. In Yi County, the most severe persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners was in Xishanbei Township. Under such intense physical and mental pressure, Jing Shumin was extremely disturbed. After that experience, as soon as she heard of Falun Dafa practitioners being arrested, she would become agitated and paranoid. Under extreme suffering, Ms. Jing passed away on February 28th, 2006.
