On May 23rd and June 13th 2006, Offene Kanal, the public TV channel of Berlin twice aired programmes on the incident of the CCP's live organ removal from Falun Gong practitioners. The first broadcast.lasted for one hour whilst the second lasted half an hour.
Two hosts and two practitioners from Berlin using a question and answer format introduced Falun Gong, the persecution against Falun Gong in China, the Chinese Communist regime's harvesting organs from living practitioners, practitioners' protest in front of the Berlin Chinese Embassy during the past few years, as well as practitioners' appeal in front of the Federal Chancellor's office shortly before her visit to China in May. Footage of earlier interviews with practitioners during protests was played between the talks. Footage of practitioners re-enacting the CCP's live organ removal was also shown.
Before it was aired on May 23rd, the host got a message from the Prime Minister's office stating that media officers from the Federal Chancellor's office would watch the programme.
This station had aired a half-hour programme about Falun Gong a few months before these two shows. Upon further learning about Falun Gong, especially since the exposure of the Chinese Communist regime's organ trade, the management staff of the TV station thought it was necessary to create a programme that can more thoroughly introduce Falun Gong in more detail. The management wanted to keep contact with practitioners, so they can keep working together to further expose the Chinese Communist regime's human rights violations against Falun Gong.
