In the second half of June 2006, a piece of serene exercise music could be heard playing in the gymnasium of Bjerregrev School in the Danish town of Viborg. Teachers and parents watched in amazement as the usually noisy children sat quietly and practised the fifth Falun Gong exercise, a sitting meditation.

We can see from the photos that many children were able to double-cross their legs into the lotus position. Look at how peaceful the little boy sitting in the front is; he was usually known to be a very active boy at school.

Learning the Falun Gong exercises was part of the school curriculum teaching about Chinese culture. The teachers invited Falun Gong practitioners to introduce the practice to the children. Practitioners taught the exercises, described the popularity of the practice around the world and explained the principles of Falun Gong—truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance—to the children and told them about the brutal persecution happening in China.

In the following two weeks, the teachers lead the school children to do meditation for half an hour every day before classes began. They were amazed to find that the children would become quiet when they meditated, whereas they were usually very active. The children liked it very much and they looked so peaceful.

Many adult participants were also very interested. They asked for bookmarks which provided details of the Falun Dafa websites and many expressed an interest in learning the practice.
