On January 28th, 2005, practitioners Fan Defang and Yuan Suxian were arrested and sent to the Dadukou District Detention Centre in Chongqing City. Yuan Suxian died as a result of the persecution she faced. and On June 9th, 2006, Dadukou District Court suddenly held a hearing and sentenced Ms. Fan to three years in prison.
On February 8th, 2006, after Yuan Suxian's death, 74-year-old Ms. Fan from Chongqing City received a hearing notice dated January 20th. The notice specified the charges against her and ironically listed Yuan Suxian as a witness for the prosecution.
After charging Ms. Fan, the Dadukou District Procuratorate postponed the hearing date from February to June. On June 9th, the Dadukou District Grand Court suddenly held the hearing and sentenced Ms. Fan to three years in prison. She is currently under temporary detention in the Dadukou District Detention Centre. Reports indicate that she will be sent to Yongchuan Prison after three more months of custody at the detention centre.
