On July 1st, 2006, German Falun Gong practitioners organised an event in support of the eleven million Chinese who have resigned from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its associated organisations. They displayed pictures depicting the CCP's history, exposing to the world the cruelty of the party. Posters also showed the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners that began on July 20th 1999, as well as the recently discovered trade in organs harvested from live Falun Gong practitioners, sanctioned by the CCP.
Many people were shocked after seeing the posters and couldn’t believe that the CCP is treating the Chinese people so cruelly. The majority of those who viewed the displays signed a petition that appeals to the German government to help stop the crimes committed by the CCP.
Some passers-by saw the practitioners' demonstration of Falun Gong exercises and immediately expressed a desire learn the movements. Some asked for the location of group practise sites.
Close to the information booth was the headquarters of the media centre for the 2006 Football World Cup. During lunch, many journalists from different countries, including a China, stopped by to have their meals. We were able to give them material about the persecution of Falun Gong and the organ harvesting in their own language. Two of three journalists from Brazil took information in Portuguese, and the third one returned for his flyer. He looked visibly happy after receiving the flyer and thanked the practitioners.
