After I was released from imprisonment, I heard about Nie Ge, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Singapore. I was saddened when I was told that she had her work permit and five-year Certificate of Social Activities (residency permit) revoked on June 2nd and that she had gone to Malaysia on June 5th, seeking asylum. I'm very worried about her current situation.
Ms. Nie Ge is originally from Changchun, China. We have been friends for more than 20 years. The only relative she has overseas is her daughter, who is in Singapore. She has no relatives in Malaysia and she only speaks Chinese. She is 56 years old and had been ill with cancer before she became a practitioner. When she lived in Changchun, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecuted her repeatably because she remained steadfast in her practice of Falun Dafa. She had to flee to Malaysia. How does she live? Where does she get food and shelter? Does she have a safe place to stay? These are just some of the questions I want to ask.
It is as if it was yesterday when she said good-bye, just before she left China for Singapore to be with her daughter. We have known each other for many years. She is of such good character! She is kind, honest, and always ready to help others. Please find below some stories I remember about her.
Ms. Nie Ge never had it easy throughout her life. Before she began to practise Falun Dafa, she experienced several very painful episodes. There were many disasters this woman had to suffer. First, she was diagnosed with cancer. While on radiotherapy and chemotherapy, after having gone through surgery, a traffic accident took the lives of her mother, husband, aunt, and one of her cousins. This happened just before her daughter's college entrance exams. Then, she broke her leg and the doctor had to insert a piece of steel to fix her leg bones. After that she had difficulties climbing stairs. She lived with her daughter in a tiny apartment. Her daughter was the only positive thing left in her life.
After she began to practise Falun Dafa, she experienced great health and mental changes. She became healthy and strong. Once, when I visited her, I saw her carrying a full propane tank upstairs without help. No one could tell that she had been a cancer patient with a piece of steel in her leg. I was so happy to see her change! Many miracles happened to her. Falun Dafa changed her path in life.
Ms. Nie has always been a kind and honest person. She was always ready to help others. Almost all her friends had accepted her selfless help. Since she began to practise Falun Dafa, we witnessed how she rose to higher levels. For example: her company was assigning apartments to specific employees and she was one of them. But, when she found out that another person's living conditions were not good, she gave the apartment to that person. She continued to live in the tiny apartment until she left for Singapore. Everyone who had lived in China understands what it means to pass up the opportunity for a larger apartment after having suffered so many misfortunes. She wouldn't have been able to give up the apartment if she had not practised Falun Dafa,
After the persecution of Falun Gong began, Ms. Nie Ge refused to lie. She continued to tell her colleagues, neighbours and other people how Falun Gong helped her regain her health. Therefore, local police harassed her many times, illegally arrested her twice, and confiscated personal items several times. She experienced insults, threats, beatings, and telephone monitoring. Every time after her family's property was confiscated her home looked as if it was robbed by bandits. The police also asked for money many times. They blackmailed her daughter to pay a ransom. The last time her daughter had to pay 10,000 Yuan to have her released. Ms. Nie, who lived on a small retirement income, suffered deeply from such a hard life. Yet, Ms. Nie saved money to help more people learn the truth about the persecution.
I thought that she finally had escaped persecution when she went to Singapore. I did not expect that CCP manipulation and deceit had arrived in Singapore. I did not expect that Ms. Nie's suffering would continue in Singapore after she had left her homeland! I can't imagine how she's living now. There are no words to describe my feelings. I just was released from prison. I know what evil the CCP is capable of when it comes to persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.
I ask the Singapore people to give a helping hand to innocent people like Ms. Nie Ge, persecuted relentlessly by the CCP. It is my deepest hope that more people could say "No" to CCP manipulation overseas. I hope that all people and governments choose justice and kindness and resist the CCP. I hope that they can put a stop to the persecution of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance" without delay.
