On August 5th, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners from St. Petersburg spent the day at Alexander Gardens, which attracts many visitors. Many passersby paid attention to practitioners' “World Needs Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance” banner and a photo exhibition organised by practitioners. People read the information boards carefully, took leaflets from practitioners, and listened intently to the practitioners explanation of the situation. Many were appalled by the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) atrocities, especially selling for profit organs harvested from living practitioners. One after another, people signed to condemn the persecution and support a comprehensive investigation by the international community into the CCP’s atrocities. According to some, Communism is simply totalitarian tyranny. It persecutes people, not allowing any different voices. Wasn’t the former Soviet Union exactly like this?
A practitioner with a loudspeaker kept telling people what Falun Gong is, how it spread all over the world, and the facts of the CCP’s persecution.
