Discarding the Notion That Big Projects Equal Big Tests

During a recent sharing, one fellow practitioner mentioned that a male practitioner who was arrested several times said, "I am involved in big projects, so the tests I have encountered have been large." Apparently this practitioner believed that in Fa-rectification one will experience more and greater persecution tests if he does more and greater things. This is acknowledging the principles of the old universe and fighting against the persecution while acknowledging it. To put it plainly, this is not completely rejecting the old forces’ arrangements. This mentality seems simple and logical, but it is very dangerous. Many of our practitioners who have done a lot of Fa-rectification work were persecuted because they had not overcome this notion and were taken advantage of by the evil. When we calm down and think about it, we will find that this is not only a human notion that refuses to part with the principles of the old universe, but also a strong attachment hidden in cultivators.

In "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Western U.S. Fa Conference," revered Master taught us,

"From my perspective, as your master, during the Fa-rectification I absolutely don't accept the using of this evil persecution to test Dafa disciples, and Dafa disciples shouldn't have the wrong idea that they can cultivate higher by enduring persecution. Dafa and its disciples oppose the persecution, that is Dafa disciples' duty. If you don't cultivate yourself based on the Fa, you can't cultivate higher by just enduring persecution, much less reach the standards for a Dafa disciple. Don't acknowledge this so-called "environment" that the old forces have provided, because during the Fa-rectification I would have had all beings assimilate to Dafa, and it wasn't at all necessary to temper Dafa disciples amidst this kind of evilness. The Fa-rectification will definitely succeed, and Dafa disciples will definitely succeed."

As Falun Dafa practitioners during the Fa-rectification period, we should not acknowledge what Master doesn’t acknowledge. What qualifications do those who are to be eliminated have to test Falun Dafa disciples? None whatsoever. During cultivation, how can we acknowledge the principle of mutual generation and mutual inhibition of the old universe? How can we acknowledge that the bigger the things we do, the bigger the persecution we are to suffer?

In addition, if we think we are doing more and bigger things than others, that shows a strong attachment in a cultivator on a microscopic level.

Since the persecution illegally started on July 20th, 1999, many practitioners have been persistent in doing the three things Master required us to do and have made many contributions to the Fa-rectification. All we have been doing are for creating our mighty virtue, and they are the most noble things to do. However, in the years of doing things for or related to Falun Dafa, without our awareness, various attachments such as showing-off, complacency, anxiety, self-righteousness, and so forth emerged. Besides, a small number of practitioners have been slacking off in studying the Falun Gong teachings (Fa) and doing the exercises while focusing on doing projects, so they have lagged behind in understanding the Fa principles, which hurt their enlightenment abilities. When others pointed it out for them, they wouldn't listen; instead they take Falun Dafa work as cultivation and regard doing this as a condition for reaching Consummation. They even developed an attachment to pursuit. One practitioner said, "I have done so much for Falun Dafa. Why have I not recovered from illness?" This practitioner later died of the illness, which the evil had used for persecution.

During our sharing, some practitioners also mentioned that many practitioners have been persecuted over the past few years for doing things in support of Falun Dafa, and prior to being persecuted they all had various attachments to doing things, showing-off, jealousy, reputation, etc. These attachments, when unrestrained, had kept inflating, causing practitioners not to listen to others' advice. Some of them only accepted others' ideas on the surface and did not get rid of their attachments through looking inside. As a result, they were taken advantage of by the evil, and Falun Dafa had sustained some losses. We have had profound lessons in this regard.

Fellow practitioners, please wake up! Do not treat doing things as conditions for reaching Consummation. Isn't that selfish and a big attachment to pursuit? Tasks related to Falun Dafa needs everyone of us to participate because that is the duty of Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples. It is not an asset for improvement in levels. Practitioners should go by the principle of gaining without seeking. We should be single-minded in doing the three things well as required by Master, and everything will be in it. We will not reach Consummation until we get rid of all attachments.

"Another point is that everything Dafa disciples are doing right now is validating the Fa, because your understandings and improvement all come from the Fa. Then as Dafa disciples, of course you should validate the Fa, that goes without saying. But everything that's done in validating the Fa is done for yourselves--not a single thing is done for me, and that includes the things I've told you to do." ("Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Western U.S. Fa Conference")

The Buddha School does not attach any conditions to saving people and does not ask for any payment. Can the number of things one does determine one's health? Can a cash contribution buy a sacred Attainment Status? Isn't it through cultivating one's heart that one achieves his Attainment Status? Now is the very end of the final stage of Fa-rectification, so all attachments must be let go, as each will be a roadblock on our cultivation path. Why has the arrival of Fa-rectification been postponed again and again so that the evil is still able to run its course? Isn't it because we have not met the standards for Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples by totally abandoning our human notions? I want to remind all fellow practitioners to look for the human notions we have not let go. Our mission is to assist Master to do Fa-rectification and save all beings. We are not here to merely live as human beings. Everything in the human world is illusory, so don't be misled by these things. Because we have not abandoned all of our human notions and Master does not want to leave behind a single disciple, the completion of Fa-rectification has been postponed time and again. Think about it, everyone: Isn't each and every practitioner a factor in deciding the progress of Fa-rectification? If one practitioner does not let go of his human notions, the dimensional field of the entire universe will not be pure, so the evil elements will hide in this practitioners dimension and commit wicked deeds. They will persecute this disciple and others. Is that a small matter? Fellow practitioners remain in prison; more practitioners are being persecuted; and the wicked Communist Party is still poisoning and destroying all beings. Isn't this directly related to the fact that we are still unwilling to abandon human notions?

It is true that Master does not want to leave behind one practitioner, but Dafa practitioners should be more diligent. Master is enduring for us and is worried for us. We must awaken! We must abandon human notions and walk out of humanness.
