The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime is accused of harvesting organs from detained Falun Gong practitioners for sale to wealthy patients. Dana Rohrabacher, Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the House International Relations Committee, pointed out that this atrocity is a great evil.

According to a VOA report on October 2nd, 2006, the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the House International Relations Committee held a hearing, inviting the authors of an investigative report on the allegations of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners in China to testify.
Former Canadian Secretary of State for Asia and Pacific and MP David Kilgour and Canadian human rights lawyer David Matas recently stated before the committee that according to their investigation, the CCP regime's harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners indeed exists.
Mr. Kilgour and Mr. Matas released an investigative report on this in July. Mr. Kilgour expressed that the CCP regime has put to death a large but unknown number of Falun Gong prisoners of conscience over the past half decade, and then sold their organs at high prices.
Mr. Kilgour said, "Most of the victims were convicted of nothing; they were murdered by medical professionals for their vital organs, including hearts, kidneys, livers and corneas, and sold at high prices to foreigners."
Mr. Matas said at the hearing that they have collected 18 kinds of evidence, and all the evidence pointed in the same direction: harvesting organs from Falun Gong practitioners indeed exists.
Mr. Matas said that they tracked traditional sources of transplants, including donors, death row inmates and brain-dead donors. From data they could find that these sources "come nowhere near to explaining the total number of transplants in China." These 'traditional' sources have not much difference comparing to those in the past, but "the increase in organ transplants in China parallels the increase in persecution of Falun Gong."
According to background information provided by Dana Rohrabacher to other members of the subcommittee before the hearing, this last March, Falun Gong claimed that the CCP regime sent Falun Gong practitioners to concentration camps in different places across China and many practitioners have had their organs harvested and their bodies cremated to destroy the evidence.
Congressman Rohrabacher expressed at the hearing that he did not have a deep understanding of Falun Gong, but he believed that everyone has the right to freedom of belief and religion.
Congressman Rohrabacher said during an interview with a VOA correspondent after the hearing that what we have learned today, as evidence shows, that the CCP regime has committed monstrous crimes, not only repression of people's religious freedom, but also repression of Falun Gong practitioners, and people who practise other religions, and now there may be acts of harvesting these people's organs for profit. If such things truly occurred, all must put pressure on the CCP regime to end this evil. [Editors note: Falun Gong is not a religion. It is a system to cultivation the body and the mind.]
