In early June 2001, Mr. Yan Sanming, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Yingcheng City, Hubei Province, was illegally detained by policemen at the First Detention Centre because he distributed truth-clarifying material. Before the Spring Festival of 2002, Mr. Yan Sanming went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal, long-term detention. On January 27 he was released because his life was in danger. On March 1, when Mr. Yan Sanming was sleeping at home, policemen from the Yingcheng Police Department together with the guards from the security section of Hubei Province's No. 728 Salt Factory broke into his room and gagged him with gauze. Then several policemen kidnapped him and forcibly carried him into a car. Now his whereabouts are unknown. The kidnapper provided no warrants for Mr. Yan Sanming home invasion or subsequent abduction.
