On September 8th, 2006, David Matas, the prestigious Canadian lawyer who co-authored the Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China arrived in Denmark for a visit. A press conference was hosted by Mr. Peter Clausen, a parliamentary member affiliated to the Red-Green Alliance, in the parliament building to expose organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Representatives and specialists from several human rights organisations attended a press conference. Among them were the Vice Chairman and Communication Officer of the Danish Association for International Cooperation, the Chairman of the Copenhagen Branch, the Danish UN Association of the Helsinki Commission, human rights lawyers and counselors of the Danish Organ Transplant Association.

Mr. Matas introduced how he and his partner conducted the investigation and collected evidence for the independent report. He said it is evil that has never occurred in this world before.

Mr. Peter Clausen commented, “I will ask the Danish government whether they truly want to do something about the human rights and Falun Gong issues in China. In this country, we often talk about what we can do. Today’s conference has brought many ideas to us.”

Mr. Bent Jespersen, a kidney transplant surgeon and counselor for the Organ Transplant Association, said, “We can highlight this issue to the Danish government and various social groups that have connections with China. For me, I have passed the information to the Danish Moral Commission. What can we do? I think by punishing those who take organs for transplants in China, we can let them understand the reasons they may have, it is totally unacceptable to purchase organs harvested from Falun Gong practitioners, donate organs for money or kill people to steal organs.”

Mr. Matas said, “I have traveled to many different countries and in every country the political leaders echoed proactively just like what Mr. Peter Clausen has done today. A lot of democratic parties also provided help to us. The media and non-governmental organisations also pay a lot of attention to this issue. Wherever we went, more and more people started to participate in this event and a lot of them are taking it more seriously.”

Liu Xiaotian, whose parents were persecuted to death by the Chinese communist regime because of practicing Falun Gong, also gave an account of the real situation.
