The Persecution of Dafa Practitioner Ms. Yuan Ling from Jiangsu Province at the Hands of the Local Authorities

Ms. Yuan Ling is a Dafa practitioner from Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. She grew up in the countryside, and went to work in the city. She began to practise Falun Dafa at the end of 1997. She went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa on October 1st, 2000. Yu, the head of the 610 Office¹ in Feng County, Xuzhou City held her for fifteen days. She was arrested at a fellow practitioner's home by Director Xia Hui from the Jiawang District Police Station, and was held in the Beishan Detention Centre in Xuzhou City for over five months.

In March 2001, Yu transferred Yuan Ling to the Chapeng Psychiatric Hospital and continued persecuting her. She was forcibly given medication and injections. If anyone refused medicine, the doctor, nurse or staff member would hold him or her on the ground and force the medicine into the person's mouth. Dafa practitioners were tied on a bed and forcibly injected twice daily, and force-fed medicine three times daily.

The Dafa practitioners in the psychiatric hospital were forcibly given harmful drugs affecting the central nervous system on a long-term basis. Their legs were shaky, their arms were weak, and their eyes looked forward but couldn't focus on anything. Their necks and tongues were stiff, and they drooled and needed support even to use the toilet. Female Dafa practitioners' menstrual periods all stopped. The authorities took away family visiting rights, and the Dafa practitioners were completely isolated. Yuan Ling's mother could not see her daughter and cried daily. She almost lost her sight. This type of cruel persecution went on for ten months.

In early 2002, the head of the 610 Office, surnamed Yu, again arrested Yuan Ling and took her to a brainwashing session in Pinglou Township, Suining County, Xuzhou City. The brainwashing session was headed by 610 officials Tong Taibin and Yang Shuguang. They hired eight thugs: Wang Yue, Guo Ya, Xiong Wangli, Wang Gang, Tong Zhen, Tong Ning, Liu Hu, and Yang Huaibei. All of the Dafa practitioners opposed the persecution, refused to wear the prison outfit, and refused to go out to drill. Because of this, Dafa practitioner Xu Chunlong was cuffed in an isolation room for forty-eight hours, and he was beaten to the point where he was covered with bruises from head to toe. Yuan Ling was beaten so severely that her eyes were swollen shut. The thugs also tortured her by pouring water into her nostrils. Jia Huili was beaten to the point where she was unable to get up from her bed for two weeks. She could hardly walk two and half months later, even with the support of two people. Xie Hongjie was covered with blood on her face after the beating, and was cuffed in the isolation room for forty-eight hours.

One night at around 9:00 p.m. in late September 2005, Yang Jinpu from the Quanshan District 610 Office, Zhu from the Duanzhuang Administration Office and Cai Dehuan from the Duanzhuang Neighborhood Committee, along with a dozen other people, attempted to deceive Yuan Ling into going to the district to "talk." After the trick was seen through, they became flustered and exasperated. Three hours later, a police van along with five policemen took Yuan Ling's husband as a hostage, and asked Yuan Ling to come to exchange herself for her husband's freedom. That afternoon, they arrested Yuan Ling and took her to the Suwan Hotel Brainwashing Centre in Quanshan District, Xuzhou City and released her husband. During that time, her one-year-old daughter developed a high fever, kept vomiting, and treatment did not improve her condition. The perpetrators were afraid of being held responsible and released Yuan Ling and her daughter to go back to her home.

On July 2nd, 2006, eighteen people from the Jinshanqiao Police Station, the Xuzhou City National Security Bureau, and Yang Jinpu from the Qushan District 610 Office took away Yuan Ling's whole family. The perpetrators confiscated their computer, mobile phone, MP3 player, and other valuables. They held them in the Leiting Hotel for over ten days. During the stay, the staff of the Security Bureau, local police station, and Residential Committee kept threatening her, and forced her husband to leave along with their daughter.

Yuan Ling was under severe pressure. Her husband left for a remote area, and she was under constant terror and threats. She was transferred to the Jishan Hotel to continue the persecution. The head of the 610 Office Zhang Gang and Liu forced Yuan Ling to watch programmes that slandered Dafa, and deprived her of sleep for three days straight. They threatened her by saying, "If you do not transform², you will be sentenced to labour camp." Yuan Ling jumped from the second floor to escape the persecution and broke her back and leg.

In order to deceive the public, the perpetrators sent her to the No. 97 Hospital. The doctor stated that since her back was broken, the nerves would be pressured and cause paralysis in her legs. One of the perpetrators who was named Liu forced Yuan Ling to write a statement saying that whatever her physical condition, it has nothing to do with other people. They released Yuan Ling home in order to cover up their crime.
