This article talks about the deeds of a person at a company in Mainland China. The following is what I experienced everything first hand. For obvious reasons, I will not use the real name and address.
The former driver for the general manager in my company was a Falun Gong practitioner. I'll call him "Lao Wu." I got to know about Falun Gong from him, saw the excellent morals of Falun Gong practitioners, and learnt that Falun Gong is truly teaching people to be kind and compassionate, something totally different from what the Chinese media had broadcast.
Prior to Falun Gong practise, Lao Wu had been driving for the general manager for many years. He had always taken advantage of his position for personal gain. Whenever the manager went to local branches to check job performance, the manager would be bribed and was presented with "red envelopes" (of cash). Lao Wu would always get a share. After he learnt Falun Gong, he realised that his Teacher taught him not to take any financial benefits without working for it and that practitioners need to be good people. Lao Wu returned the red envelopes and gifts, and refused to accept any more.
After the general manager learnt of this, he felt embarrassed. He did not say anything specific, but tried to convince Lao Wu to follow convention. Lao Wu continued doing things his way. After several attempts to no avail, the general manager had to change his driver. Lao Wu had no more opportunities to refuse gifts and red envelops. Some people felt sorry for him, but it did not bother him in the least.
Once a car ran over a farmer's chicken, but the driver ran away. Lao Wu just happened to be driving by, and the farmer insisted it was Lao Wu who had killed his chicken. Lao Wu patiently explained that he did not do it. The farmer did not believe him. He grabbed Mr. Lao's collar and yelled endlessly. Lao Wu remained patient and kind during this assault. His colleague sitting in the car could not stand it anymore. He got out and almost got into a fight with the farmer. Lao Wu calmed his colleague down. Finally, an on-looker testified that Lao Wu had not killed the chicken, but the farmer was still rude. Lao Wu's colleague said, "Lao Wu knows kung-fu. He could beat up several people at the same time, but he endured the insult. Falun Gong practitioners do not hit back, nor do they retort when being verbally abused. Practising Truth, Compassion and Tolerance is truly great!"
In July of 1999, Falun Gong started to be persecuted. Lao Wu's job and life were greatly affected. The authorities in his company and officials from the police department frequently came to talk to him, trying to make him quit Falun Gong and write a "guarantee statement" to show that he would no longer practise or be involved with anything to do with Falun Gong. Lao Wu would tell them the physical and mental benefits he experienced from his practise. His physical health was improved and moral standards were raised. He had also saved his company large amounts of money in medical expenses. He never again made false medical claims to get reimbursement from the company, nor would he take advantage of the company for personal benefits.
Those who came to try to make him stop practising Falun Gong did not have anything else to say. They kept repeating, "Even if Falun Gong is good, now that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) forbids people from practising, you should stop practising. If you continue practising, you will be considered anti-Communist." Even though he was eventually laid off, he still would not stop practising Falun Gong. He went to Beijing later on to appeal for Falun Gong, but was sentenced to two years of forced labour. He suffered from inhuman tortures in the camp where he was held. Lao Wu was shocked with electric batons, and someone poured hot pepper and salt water into his nose. Lao Wu was forced to work continuously for 24 hours without stopping, and he was not allowed to use the toilet for several days on end. He was finally released in 2003.
I saw that the once healthy, young, and strong Lao Wu had been tortured to deformity. His hair was white. At that time my mind was poisoned by the Chinese Communist Party's slander of Falun Gong. I could not understand why Lao Wu was so "stubborn." I even thought that practising Falun Gong was perhaps like using drugs: one got addicted to it and could not let it go.
The Tiananmen Self-immolation incident shocked me. I thought that those people were totally insane. Nobody would burn themselves to death, no matter what the reason! I asked Lao Wu about it. We talked for about two hours. After that I totally understood: the self-immolation was a drama staged by the CCP to attack Falun Gong. It was full of loopholes and a total farce.
Falun Gong was truly as good as practitioners had said it was, which was why Lao Wu remained steadfast in his belief. The newspapers and TV had been lying to the Chinese people. I told Lao Wu, "I trust you because you are someone I know who changed into a very good person after practising Falun Gong."
In June of 2005, Lao Wu let me read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party . From then on, I could truly see the evil nature of the CCP, and I quit the organisation. Soon after that, Lao Wu was arrested again for spreading the <>Nine Commentaries and was sentenced to three years of forced labour. He is currently in a labour camp.
Lao Wu told me before his arrest, "Withdrawing from the CCP is a guarantee of your life's security." Before I quit the CCP I had been physically sick. No matter how many kinds of medicines I took, my headache could not be healed. But after I had withdrawn from the CCP, my brain became clear. It seemed that I have changed into a totally different person. I excitedly told Lao Wu, "It is magical!" Lao Wu said, "The CCP is an evil spirit in another dimension. Quitting the CCP means getting rid of the evil spirit's control. You are truly rescued."
From the depths of my heart I am grateful for Falun Gong. I hope that Falun Gong's name will be cleared. I will tell those who have not withdrawn from the CCP and its associated organisations, "Read the Nine Commentaries and immediately quit the CCP!"
Whether or not you believe that withdrawing from the CCP is a guarantee of life's security, knowing how corrupt the CCP is now and why the Chinese are so full of complaints about this group, it is better to believe than to not believe. We should all choose a bright future for ourselves.
