An article in the foreign edition of the China Daily, one of the many mouthpieces for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), admitted on November 18th, 2006, in an unusually terse and open manner that most transplant organs in China come from executed prisoners.
The Communist regime's harvesting of prisoners' organs has long been an open secret. We would be underestimating the Communist regime's deceitful nature if we merely think it is admitting the truth because of international pressure. The regime is trying to divert attention from its continued harvesting of living Falun Gong practitioners' organs by admitting what is virtually public knowledge.
Firstly, the Communist regime did not admit that it kills prisoners based on need for harvesting organs. Many Western media quoted the regime's own lingo and said the human organs come from "executed prisoners," which means organs are taken only after prisoners are executed. International human rights organisations have condemned this practice, but because of years of official brainwashing, many Chinese people are indifferent toward this issue. The truth is that in recent years, the Communist Party has come to the point that it kills without scruples when organs are "needed for surgeries."
A great deal of investigation evidence shows Chinese doctors are able to find matching organs within a very short time, oftentimes in one week or even several days. Many hospitals were able to perform dozens of transplants in just one day (please refer to http://cipfg.org/ for more information). It is impossible for such a large and continuous supply of organs to come from prisoners executed only once in a while, which means many are probably slaughtered simply because their organs are needed. The cruelty of this practice far exceeds taking organs from executed prisoners, as it is the crime of intentional murder. Anyone with even an iota of conscience would not accept this fact, and yet this is precisely what the CCP has covered up.
The regime only admitted taking organs from death row inmates, but not from other groups. One must be wondering, "How many people are executed in China each year?" Even if all the death-row prisoners in its history were added together, it still could not meet the CCP's current needs for "reverse matching," i.e. kill on demand to produce a matching organ in a very short time (several weeks or several days). In the US, about 10,000 people donate their organs each year, where it usually takes several years to obtain a matching organ. How large must the live organ bank be in order to shorten the waiting time by several hundred times to meet the CCP's current level? Where do the organs come from? "Organs from executed prisoners" is not at all an adequate explanation.
Most importantly, the Communist regime did not admit the crime of taking organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. After the harvesting of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners was first exposed in March of 2006, the CCP was silent for three weeks and then denied the charges. Qin Gang, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said, "It is a complete fabrication, a lie, a slander to say that China forcibly takes organs from people given the death penalty for the purpose of transplanting them." This is similar to the occasion when the regime called the BBC report of September 27th, 2006, on the "thriving" organ sales in China "false information," although a hidden camera captured a Chinese doctor unhesitatingly admitting the use of prisoners' organs.
So why is the regime now acknowledging its use of prisoners' organs?
Obviously, the Communist regime's categorical denial no longer works. Such denial would only amount to self-deception, as the organ harvesting practice is a proven fact and an open secret. The international community is asserting increasing pressure on the Communist regime, following two Canadian investigators' published findings regarding the allegations of organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. And kind-hearted Chinese people know the CCP's persecution against Falun Gong is wrong and that Falun Gong practitioners are not criminals. Yet, an unimaginable number of Falun Gong practitioners have been killed so that the Communist regime can make huge profits by selling their organs. The exposure of this dark practice dealt a heavy blow to the CCP, which would rather take the blame for harvesting death-row prisoners' organs than having the horrific truth about the persecution against Falun Gong exposed.
In this regard, the CCP regime failed to explain one thing. According to the Canadian report, 18,500 organ transplants with identified organ sources were carried out between 1994 and 1999. One would expect a similar number of transplants in the next six years, between 2000 and 2005. In fact 60,000 transplants were actually carried out in China during the latter period. We cannot find a satisfactory explanation for this obvious and drastic increase except the persecution of Falun Gong, which began in July of 1999. The CCP's large-scale persecution against Falun Gong, the degree of brutality, the practice of widespread blood tests and thorough physical examinations of Falun Gong practitioners held in prisons and labour camps in China, and the testimony from several witnesses in March 2006 have, from different angles, attested to the existing practice of the CCP's harvesting of organs from Falun Gong practitioners.
From the CCP's "admitting" to what it is not admitting, it is clear that the CCP regime is attempting to conceal an even greater evil act.
The Communist regime pretentiously invited foreign visitors to the cleaned-up Sujiatun hospital after its harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners' organs was exposed, while repeatedly denying visas to members of an independent investigation group, the CIPFG. The CIPFG wants to conduct thorough and unrestricted investigations in Chinese prisons, labour camps, hospitals, and other relevant facilities.
Since the CCP has admitted harvesting organs from death-row prisoners, some human rights organisations have already requested that the CCP publicise the details of its organ harvesting program. The facts, however, can only be obtained through an independent investigation carried out within the boundaries of Mainland China.
Currently, CIPFG groups have been established in Australia, Europe, Asia, and North America. The Australia branch of CIPFG wrote to the Chinese consulate in Melbourne and requested permission to conduct investigations in China. The international community should pay attention to the committee's request and support the CIPFG in its effort to expose the truth of the Communist regime's organ harvesting from living persons and help end this unprecedented evil.
