Mr. Meng Ruishan, a former resident at Limin Street, Yongning Town, Yanqing County, Beijing was arrested on July 19th, 2000 for distributing Falun Dafa-related printed materials. He was taken to the Daxing Forced Labour Camp and held for one year. On the evening of February 3rd, 2002, his house was ransacked and he was arrested and taken to a police station. On March 4th, he was released on bail, pending trial. On April 7th, 2002, he was arrested again, while at work in a factory. At that time, he was sent to the Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp of Beijing, where he was tormented for one and a half years. He was arrested and beaten many times, which seriously traumatised his body and mind. He often coughed and vomited blood. In the labour camp, he was given injections and forced to take drugs. After he was allowed to go home, his health took a turn for the worse. Last August, when he went to work in a county factory, his coughing and vomiting blood were aggravated. He died on September 23rd, 2006.
Mr. Sha Jingye was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Hefei City, Anhui Province. On February 28th, 2006, he was arrested in his home at Nanqi by police officers from Hefei City. His house was ransacked and 50 to 60 thousand yuan1 were confiscated from him. Because Sha Jingyie was often sick, he was taken to the Anhui Medical Science University hospital where other practitioners managed to visit him. He was constantly monitored by plainclothes agents from the National Security Bureau. Eventually, Sha Jingyie was sent back home but kept under constant supervision until his death in August or September. Because Sha Jingye was single and was constantly watched, few details about his persecution have surfaced.
Mr. Jiao Kaixin (71), was retired from the Beijing Capital Steel Factory in Dougezhuang, Miyun County, Beijing City. He first learned Falun Dafa in 1998 and he became very healthy. After the persecution of Falun Dafa began, he tried to appeal in Beijing in November 2000. He was arrested and sentenced to one year in a forced labour camp. In the labour camp, he was forced to read slanderous materials about Falun Dafa and was prevented from studying the Falun Dafa teachings and practising the exercises for a long time. As a result, many illnesses manifested in his body. Within one month in 2002, his illnesses became worse and he often went fell unconscious. Most of the time he could no longer walk and had to use a cane even when he was feeling relatively well. He died at the end of January 2006.
Ms. Chen Yuxian (36), was a doctor from the Fanjiatun Hospital in Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province. She was fortunate to encounter Falun Dafa in 1999. In 2001, she went to Beijing to publicly support Falun Dafa, telling many people "Falun Dafa Is Great" on Tiananmen Square. When she returned home, her husband would not allow her to study the Falun Dafa teachings and do the exercises because he had been intimidated by the numerous past political campaigns and feared that he would be implicated. He verbally abused and beat her and prevented her from studying and practising the exercises regularly. Her body and spirit were greatly traumatised. In the middle of November 2003, she suddenly suffered a brain hemorrhage from which she died on December 4th, 2003.
Mr. Yang Fenghai was a Falun Dafa practitioner in his sixties from Gaoxinzhuang Village, Jiuzhou Town, Langfang City, Hebei Province. He was arrested by staff from the town police station on his way to an appeal in Beijing in 1999. In the detention centre, guards forced him to sit on the toilet day and night as a way to torture him. Often, he was forced to sit on a toilet for a whole day and night. Finally, he could no longer stand up and developed difficulty eating his meals and felt dizzy. After 40 days, he was on the verge of a breakdown and was released. He died in 2000. His death was not exposed before because his family feared revenge by the authorities.
Ms. Feng Guiqin (65) was from Huangtu Village, Banshigou Town, Linghai City, Liaoning Province. She first started to practise Falun Dafa in 1997. After she began her practice, the bronchitis that had bothered her for many years disappeared without a trace. Following the events of July 20th, 1999, Feng Guiqing went to Beijing to appeal for the rights of Falun Gong and was brutalised by the local policemen who shocked her with electric batons, slapped her in the face, and punched and kicked her. Later, she was sent to a detention centre, where she was detained for over 40 days and had 1,800 yuan extorted from her. Policemen came to her house many times to intimidate and threaten her. She died on September 4th, 2006 in her home.
Ms. Sun Yuling was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Dukou Village, Fushan District, Yantai City, Shandong Province. In December 2002, she was sentenced to three years for practising Falun Gong. By August 2005, she had developed an incurable illness due to the conditions under which she was detained, and she was released before her term was up. When she returned home, she was completely emaciated. Four months later, she tragically died. Everybody in the village felt that she was wrongly persecuted. People said: "Such a kind person had to die too soon! The communist villains have lost their human nature."
