I learned Falun Dafa in 1997, and all my diseases were gone within ten days of practising.
In the spring of 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal to the Chinese government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong, but I was arrested by the police and sent back to my hometown. I was tied onto a bed for an entire night and questioned the next day. A policeman named Hao beat me by pulling my hair for no reason before the questioning.
After 19 days of being detained at the detention centre, and four and a half days of hunger strike, I was released. During my detention period, the local police stations and government sent over twenty people to my home to search it and extort my family of 1,500 yuan1. My elderly mother-in-law was so scared that she couldn't move, and became numb.
In July I went to visit a fellow practitioner, but was followed by Chen Dayi, a village official. I was arrested and taken to the county detention centre that night and detained for five days. I protested the illegal detention by going on a hunger strike for five days, and later was extorted for 700 yuan plus five yuan per day for food costs.
In that autumn, someone from the Political and Legal Party Committee of the county government came to ask me what I thought of Falun Gong. I replied that Falun Gong was not bad, on the contrary I regained my health after only ten days of practice. A few days later, I was arrested and taken to the detention centre again and sent to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp two days later.
The camp wardens forced me and other practitioners to write letters renouncing Dafa and to attend brainwashing classes. We were forced to stand for a long time and were deprived of sleep. Conversations were not allowed between practitioners. They forced us to attend criticism meetings, one after another. We were also forced to watch TV programmes and read books that slandered and defamed Dafa. The wardens pretended to be nice to the practitioners to make us give up our beliefs. Steadfast practitioners were isolated in one room and forced to produce craft work until midnight. Several of the most steadfast practitioners were sent to a secret place to be tortured. The labour camp has been conducting evil deeds in a hidden way.
It was the busiest season for farmers when I was abducted in autumn. My husband was overwhelmed by the large amount of farming work. Seeing this, my 80-year-old mother-in-law was very anxious, and her health was declining due to fear that she acquired because of my arrests. Without care from me and her son, she passed away after several days of treatment. She was still looking for me at her time of death. During those days, my husband passed out several times because of the physical and mental pressure, and was terribly ill afterwards, which cost us 500 yuan for medical care. His weight was only about 90 pounds. He was almost unable to speak when he came to visit me at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp.
My 86-year-old mother was also waiting for me to come home but could not see me one last time before she passed away. Her eyes were wide open when she died. Two elderly parents passed away when I was imprisoned, and my husband was deeply desperate and hurt. I have been a good citizen who never broke the law and always tried to do good things. Only because I practise Falun Gong, which has helped me eliminate my diseases, was I arrested three times. What law did I break? Why have I been detained, imprisoned, and extorted of money? Why was my family broken apart with my elderly parents passing away in such a tragic way? Jiang Zemin and his followers must be held responsible for this.
