Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Wang Hongnan Died at Nanguanling Prison in Dalian City, Liaoning Province as a Result of Persecution

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Wang Hongnan from Anshan City, Liaoning Province died at the Nanguanling Prison in Dalian City, Liaoning Province on January 25th, 2007 at the age of 37.

Mr. Wang Hongnan's sister received a phone call from the prison authorities in the afternoon of January 25th. She immediately went to the prison and was told on arrival Wang Hongnan had already died. The officials told her to consent to cremation right away before she ever saw the body. She refused.

Wang Hongnan's sister met with the prison authorities again on January 26th. She asked about her brother's cause of death. The officials said it was liver disease. The officials had never told the family prior to his death that Wang Hongnan was ill. Wang Hongnan's sister confronted the officials and asked, "Why didn't you treat him?" The officials said there was no one to take care of him. She asked, "Why didn't you inform the family?"

The officials presented a diagnosis, perhaps obtained when they took Wang Hongnan to the ER before he passed away. The data shown in the diagnosis makes no medical sense. After further investigation, a discrepancy was revealed between the time the prison officials claimed they took Wang Hongnan to the hospital and what the hospital's records as Wang Hongnan's admission time at the hospital. The exact cause of death requires further investigation.

Another practitioner, Mr. Yang Kezhi was arrested on March 14th, 2003 by Li Jixiang and other officers from Youhao Police Station in Lishan District in Anshan City. Wang Hongnan visited Yang Kezhi, and the police tried to interrogate him but Wang Hongnan said a few words and stopped the police. The police secretly followed Wang Hongnan to his home and ransacked it. They took equipment and more than 3,600 yuan¹ cash from the Dafa materials production site at Wang Hongnan's home. Youhao Police Station head Li Jixiang ordered the officers to brutally torture Wang Hongnan and Yang Kezhi. Wang Hongnan screamed in pain. The police said to Yang Kezhi, "Do you hear Wang Hongnan screaming in the other room? Would you like to go and take a look?"

Several Dafa practitioners, including Wang Hongnan and Yang Kezhi, were held at the Anshan City Detention Centre to be further persecuted. Officials from the Lishan District Court and from the 610 Office² secretly tried these practitioners on October 23rd, 2003 and charged them with "sabotaging the administration of law" and sentenced them to 12 years in prison. The practitioners were held at the Nanguanling Prison in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. Wang Hongnan's arm was disabled from torture in early 2006.
