Cases of Torture of Falun Dafa Practitioners from Huaiyang County, Henan Province

Falun Dafa spread to Huaiyang County, Henan Province in 1995. Within a few years, more than thirty thousand people practised Dafa and over one million people benefited from Dafa directly or indirectly.

Since July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Jiang Zemin ganged up in persecuting Falun Gong using the whole nation's resources. This report is a collection of several cases of how Dafa practitioners from Huaiyang County were tortured, in order to let people understand the evil nature of the CCP.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Chunling Sentenced to Ten Years in Prison

Ms. Wang Chunling, 45, was a cadre of the labour union of the Huaiyang County Cotton Mill. After the CCP started persecuting Falun Dafa, Ms. Wang Chunling and several other practitioners went to the Huaiyang County Party Committee to appeal for Dafa on July 22nd, 1999. They were arrested and locked in the Chengguan Town Police Station for a week.

In November 1999, Ms. Wang Chunling went to the Beijing Appeals Office to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested and sent back to Huaiyang County Detention Centre. There she was forced to do intensive labour and denied sleep if she did not complete her work. She had little to eat and was frequently insulted and beaten. To rescue her, her family had to borrow money to buy a luxury suit for Deputy Director of the National Security Team of Huaiyang County Police Department Zhao Min and Deputy Political Commissar of the Huaiyang County Police Department Ren Wei. They also bought expensive gifts for policemen Zhao Jishan, Chen Jiachang and Geng Shouling and paid four thousand yuan¹ as a fine.

After she returned home, she was frequently disturbed by the police. Once she was deceived by the police into going to the police station. Once she got there, she was arrested and thrown into the Huaiyang County Detention Centre. Her family could not borrow any more money to bribe the police, so she was detained there for four months. Then her family was asked to pay two thousand yuan. Once they did that, she was released.

After she went home, the police frequently disturbed her at her home. She had no choice but to leave home and go into hiding. Sh never went home or contacted her family after that. In November 2000, the police broke into her home and ransacked the house. Her son, 13, cursed the police once when they awoke him. He was then arrested and locked in the detention centre with only his underwear on for a whole night. The police also frequently monitored her parents and in-laws.

Ms. Wang Chunling was arrested at Taikang County, Henan Province in 2003 and sentenced to ten years in prison. She was taken to and brutally tortured in the Xinxiang City Women's Prison, Henan Province.

Practitioner Ms. Liu Xia Tortured by the Police

Ms. Liu Xia, about 30, is a practitioner from the Xiazhuang Administrative Village, Chengguan Town, Huaiyang County. She was arrested and detained in Beijing for seven days after going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in November 2001. She tried to explain the facts about Falun Dafa to the staff at the Henan Province Beijing Office, but they refused to listen to her. One person there taped her mouth closed. She was later taken back to Huaiyang County by police and locked at the Huaiyang County Detention Centre.

During interrogation, Guard Wu Jinzhong tied her hands to her back with a rope and grabbed her hair to knock her head against the wall. When Ms. Liu held a hunger strike to protest, guard Li Degong beat her with a belt made with iron rings. Even when she was in critical condition, guard Shi Zhongjie put her in a "straight jacket," a torture instrument with long sleeves to tie the victim's arms She was bent and tied up in four folds (lower leg, upper leg, back and arms), not able to sit, stand, sleep, or go to the toilet. Doctor Zhang Duoshu force-fed her many times. He forcibly inserted a feeding tube into her stomach and also carried her in the air and then threw her to the ground. She was whipped for over 40 days. Only until she was near death was her family informed and allowed to to take her home.

At midnight on October 30, 2002, more than a dozen policemen broke into Ms. Liu's home. Without any arrest warrant, they dragged her and her father from their beds, carried them out, and put them into police cars. They were not allowed to put on clothes. Policemen Zhao Jishan, Li Changfeng, Geng Shouling, Ren Yulin, Zhang Junmei, Zhao Min, Wu Shengli and several others were present. Ms. Liu Xia and her father were taken directly to prison. Wardens put handcuffs and shackles on her and tied her hands and feet together. She was not allowed to sleep at night. She held a hunger strike for over 40 days. When she had almost no pulse or blood pressure, the police took her to the emergency room of the Huaiyang County Hospital and let her parents take her home.

On February 15th, 2003, Ms. Liu was arrested at a material centre at Dancheng City, Henan Province. She was beaten and kicked by the arresting police. At the Dancheng City Detention Centre, she held a hunger strike to protest. A guard used a chopstick to pry her mouth open for force-feeding. After being tortured for ten months there, she was sentenced to seven years in prison and taken to the Xinxiang City Women's Prison, Henan Province.

At the Xinxiang City Women's Prison, Ms. Liu was watched by inmates and wardens around the clock. She was deprived of sleep and forced to stand and attend brainwashing sessions.

Practitioner Ms. Su Yujing Brutally Tortured and Imprisoned

At 10 a.m. on September 15th, 2001, practitioner Ms. Su Yujing from Zhaozhai Administrative Village, Dalian Township, Huaiyang County, and another practitioner were arrested by people from the Wandian Township Comprehensive Management Office. The two were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution. They were taken to the Wandian Township Police Station.

Director of the Wandian Township Police Station Zheng Xianfang tied the other practitioner with a rope and ordered policemen to pull her in the air by the rope and then drop her to the ground. Zheng Xianfang also brutally beat Ms. Su Yujing. He then took them to the Huaiyang County 610 Office², where they were handcuffed and interrogated. That evening they were put in the Huaiyang County Detention Centre. Guards Wang Quandong and Wu Jinzhong fiercely slapped Ms. Su's face. The next day, guard Wang Quandong told her to go to the Guard Office. Director of the Detention Centre Zheng Xianjun hit her face violently and repeatedly. She was unconscious. When she woke up, guards put a torture vest and shackles that were only for executed criminals on her for a week.

Ms. Su held a hunger strike for 23 days. Doctor Zhang Duoshu force-fed her four times. When Ms. Su refused to cooperate, Zhang Duoshu inserted the feeding tube through her nose more than ten times. They also tied her to a chair and used needles to prick her head, feet, hands and arms. When she was in critical condition, Zhang Xianjun said, "Don't be afraid if she dies. Just throw her body into a ditch and report her as a suicide. Don't let her go as long as she can still breathe." Guard Cheng Sigui used a thin bamboo stick to whip her hands, causing her great pain.

At 10 a.m. on January 5th, 2005, when Ms. Su rode a bicycle passing Xiaoshizhuang Village, Dalian Township, a policeman from the Dalian Township Police Station pointed a gun at her head and took her to the police station. Then the policemen took out a few cassette tapes and CDs from their own office and claimed that they found those on her. She was then put into the Huaiyang County Detention Centre. She refused to cooperate with the interrogation at the detention centre. She held a hunger strike for 26 days. Guard Wang Quandong threatened not to release her. Policemen also ransacked her home twice when she was at the detention centre.

The Huaiyang County 610 Office and the National Security Team took Ms. Su to the court twice. Judge Fang Roufei from the Huaiyang County Court sentenced her to six years in prison.

Practitioner Ms. Shi Fenglan Sentenced to Forced Labour

Ms. Shi Fenglan is a practitioner from Fengtang Township, Huaiyang City. At 10 p.m. on February 21st, 2003, four or five policemen broke into her home. They ransacked her home and took away a tape recorder and a Falun Dafa book. She was carried by a fourth into a police car. She was taken to the Fengtang Township Police Station that night, and then to the Huaiyang County Detention Centre the next day. On June 24th, the police from the National Security Team of the Huaiyang County Police Department took her to the Zhengzhou City Shibalihe Women's Forced Labour Camp. The SARS epidemic was at its peak at that time and the forced labour camp refused to accept her. Then, on July 1st, they tried to send her to either Xuchang City, Henan Province, or Zhengzhou City for imprisonment. Again, she was rejected. On August 13th, 2003, the Zhengzhou City Shibalihe Women's Forced Labour Camp took her in for two years of forced labour.

At the forced labour camp, Ms. Shi Fenglan was forced to do intensive slave labour and listen to lies slandering Dafa. She was monitored, harassed, and beaten.

Practitioner Ms. Zhu Zhenying Imprisoned

Mrs. Zhu Zhenying and her husband started to learn Falun Gong in December 1996. In three days, Mrs. Zhu Zhenying's illnesses that had bothered her for many years were all gone.

On October 4th, 1999, Mrs. Zhu Zhenying and her husband went to the county government to appeal for Falun Gong. Police arrested them along with four other appealers and put them in the detention centre. Practitioners at the detention centre did the Falun Gong exercises. Zheng Xianjun punished them by forcing them to stand against the wall for a whole night. Practitioners continued doing the exercises. Zheng Xianjun put shackles weighing several dozen pounds on them for 15 days. Afterwards, Guard Zhang Bao'an forced the practitioners to do intense labour. The practitioners refused. Zhang Bao'an cursed and beat them, then put the shackles on them again.

Once the practitioners read Zhuan Falun in their cell. Zheng Xianjun came, found the book, and took it away. Practitioner Ms. Wei Sufang asked him to return the book. He then tied Ms. Wei Sufang with a rope and put the shackles and "straight jacket" on her.

Ms. Zhu Zhenying was imprisoned eight months before she was released. Five months after, she was put into the detention centre again for four months.

At 8 p.m. on July 23rd, 2003, policemen Li Changfeng and Zhang Rui from the Huaiyang County National Security Team, Wang Shimin and Liu Huachun from a police station, and two other people ransacked Ms. Liu Zhenying's home. They took away Dafa books, a miner's light, and 80 yuan. They carried her into their police car by force. When she shouted, "Falun Dafa is Good," Zhang Rui slapped on her face and knocked a tooth out. She was able to escape from the detention centre after being imprisoned there for 16 days.
