My name is Cui Deli, and I am a 65-year-old woman from Wuzu, Shabei Village, Laojie Township, Huili City, Sichuan Province. I have benefited physically and mentally from practising Falun Dafa. Since July 20th, 1999, I have experienced various forms of persecution merely because I chose to uphold my belief in Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, and be a good person.
Due to the hardships in my life and ten years of overworking, I had developed many illnesses. There was not a place on my body that did not ache. I felt as if I were carrying a big slab of stone on my back all the time. Since I started practising Falun Dafa, in July 1998, all the illnesses I had were cured without any medical treatment. The burden I felt I carried was gone and my steps became fast and light. I was hot-tempered in the past and got angry easily. After I started practising Falun Dafa, I began to cultivate my heart according what our Teacher requires, trying to be a kind and good person. At home, I took good care of my children regardless of any criticism. I lived in harmony with other families in the neighbourhood and never got into a fight. We have a family business. Our prices were reasonable and we never made money at the cost of our conscience. I often helped people who were in need and people who knew me liked to do business with me.
However, since the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, the Public Security Bureau, the Local Police Station, the Township Municipal Council and the Village Committee have all sent people to harass me many times. They tried to force me to renounce my belief with threats and intimidation. When that did not succeed, they placed restrictions on my civil liberties and searched my home many times, confiscating personal property.
In 2001, I joined many others and signed my name on a request to restore our Teacher's reputation. I was questioned by Division One of the Public Security Bureau and they imposed a fine of 200 yuan1 on me. Later I was questioned again and they imposed another fine of 100 yuan just because I had got together with my fellow practitioners.
My daughter and son-in-law have a consignment business in Kunming. Division One of the Public Security Bureau suspected that the business belonged to a Falun Gong practitioner. In 2001, the Public Security Bureau stole more than 140,000 yuan, which was loaned money, from my daughter and son-in-law's safe, and told them that they had to investigate before they could return the money. My son-in-law was taken away and detained for a week. The Public Security Bureau wanted to fabricate some accusation in order to misappropriate this money, but they couldn't find any evidence. But they still didn't return the money. While my son-in-law was detained, my daughter was robbed of 130,000 yuan when she was withdrawing money from the Kunming Bank. By then, many clients had come to our doorstep to ask for payment. My whole family was at a dead end and didn't know what to do. My children sought help from lawyers, journalists, and friends. I had to leave the business and visit the Public Security Bureau to reason with them. After more than two years of running around and making requests, they finally returned the money to our family.
After this misfortune, my daughter and son-in-law suffered a great deal physically and mentally and they started to vent their anger on me. They told me that it was because of me that they had suffered this misfortune. They caused a lot of difficulty for me at home and many times I was nearly forced to leave home, but I was too worried about my two little granddaughters who would have had no one to look after them. After things cooled down, my daughter and son-in-law were still in a constant state of anxiety. They feared that one day they would be fleeced again. They also feared for the future of the younger generation, so they wanted to break up the family and have me live apart from them. In order to keep my children from being involved in any trouble, and to let them have a happier life, I moved out and lived by myself.
On April 10th, 2006, six people from the State Security Team came to search my home for no reason, and confiscated my Falun Dafa books. They even took small scissors and small tweezers that were only worth 50 cents. They took me to a detention centre and I was detained for 15 days. They also took 1000 yuan from me.
At about 10:00 a.m. on September 4th, the police from the State Security Team went to practitioner Liu Huizi's home at Nanjiao Village. They happened to see me and another practitioner together, so they took me away me and detained me for another month. They threatened my children that I would be sent to a forced labour camp. My children, fearing that I would suffer, quickly took out 2000 yuan and gave it to them. I was then released from the detention centre.
Because I would not give up my belief in Falun Dafa, in December I was sentenced to 13 months in of forced labour. I am now still in Nanmushi Forced Labour Camp.
I practise Falun Dafa and try to be a good person according to Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. I have never violated the Constitution or any other law of the country, and have never done anything harmful to other people or the country. When I tell people that Falun Dafa is good, and explain the facts of the persecution, it is also good for them, so that they will no longer be deceived by the lies. It is also in line with freedom of speech that is protected by our Constitutional law. Nevertheless, in the past few years, my home has been searched seven times, I was detained three times, and they extorted 3300 yuan from me. I hope people heed their consciences in distinguishing between right and wrong on this cardinal issue, not aid or abet the evildoers, and treat Falun Dafa practitioners with kindness.
