Qin Weidian and his wife Li Meixin from Daqinjia Village, Daqingjia Town, Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province are both fifty-five years old, and have both persevered in their cultivation of Dafa over the last ten years.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, however, Mr. Qin and his wife have suffered numerous inhumane tortures for their belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance."

Arrested Once Again

At around 10 a.m. on June 7th, 2007, Director Li Jianguang from the Zhaoyuan National Security Team, Ding Jiguo from the Daqinjia Town Armed Forces, and eight or nine policemen from the Daqinjia Town Police Station drove to Daqinjia Village in several police cars. First they visited Qin Weidian's eighty-year-old mother's place and stole all the Dafa books. Then they arrested Mr. Qin, who was selling furniture at a local store, before they broke into Qin's house. Qin Weidian's entire place was ransacked, and even his pillow was destroyed. All the new furniture and drawers belonging to Mr. Qin's newlywed son and daughter-in-law were ransacked. A computer, VCD player, sound system, TV antenna and a tape recorder were stolen. At around 11 a.m., Mr. Qin's wife Li Meixin was also arrested off the street.

The Zhaoyuan National Security Team and the 610 Office1 sent Mr. Qin and Ms. Li into the Yantai Brainwashing Centre, where they are being imprisoned and persecuted. Sources say that they were injected with drugs causing their consciousness and sanity to give way.

Eight Years of Persecution

On July 26th, 1999 Qin Weidian was arrested and taken to the Daqinjia town government building and was then imprisoned in the local police station. On the 27th he was forced to remain outside for an entire afternoon in the blazing heat before being brought to the town cinema that afternoon and brutally beaten by Li Chunliang and four other members of the town government for the entire afternoon. Cries of pain could be heard from afar, and his entire body turned purple from the beating. Thereafter he could barely move.

At around midnight during the Mid-Autumn Festival in 1999, Mr. Qin and Ms. Li were arrested by the then Political Secretary Liu Yue from the Daqinjia Town government after the latter broke into their house with more than a dozen people. They were released after eighteen days of torture in the police station.

On January 1st, 2000 Qin Weidian travelled to Beijing to speak out about the truth of Falun Gong. He was arrested and released more than ten days later.

On January 2nd, 2000 Li Meixin travelled to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong as well. She was also picked up by authorities and taken to the town government building. After a series of beatings from Liu Yue, Li Chunliang and other criminals, Ms. Li was jailed in the police station. Later, Mr. Qin and about a dozen other Dafa practitioners were brought to the kitchen storage room on the second floor of the town government building. In this "cell" there were no beds, no mats, and no covers, and there were already several practitioners imprisoned there. Including Li Meixin, there were a total of thirty-eight people, among whom were seven over the age of seventy.

After dinner on January 3rd, in the bitter winter cold, a government chauffeur named Wang Jinli and henchmen Li Chunliang, with another person surnamed Yang, poured four to five buckets of water into the "cell" before throwing ice blocks in as well. The detained practitioners could only sit in the ice-cold water with their clothing all wet. Then, the perpetrators brought out the practitioners one after another for beatings. In the dark corners of the garage about twenty government workers held the practitioners down on the floor and brutally beat them with wooden clubs and police batons. It was chilling to hear the screams of pain and the sound of batons. Lin Zhiqiang, Li Chunliang and the rest beat Ms. Li Meixin in this way for more than twenty minutes. Thirty minutes after she was brought back to the cell she was taken out for another beating. This time, she was so severely beaten that she lost control of her bowels. Ms. Li's entire body turned black and was totally unrecognisable. The sight was unbearable, and she passed out for an entire night (her condition was documented with photographs).

On the 14th day after the 2000 Chinese New Year, Li Meixin was arrested once again from her home by policemen from the Zhaoyuan 610 Office and the Daqinjia Town government. She was secretly taken to the Fushan Town Police Station for torture. This time she was shocked with electric batons and her screams of pain were agonising. She was on the brink of death. The batons charred two of her fingers and her blood flowed like water. For a long time the scars were visible on her hands.

On the 28th day of the 2001 Chinese New Year, Li Meixin was arrested once again and taken to the Wangcun Labour Camp in Zibo City for fifteen days of brainwashing, where she suffered extreme physical and psychological torture.

In early November 2003, after Ms. Li exposed and charged the policemen for their persecution crimes against her, she was again abducted by the authorities from the Zhaoyuan 610 Office and imprisoned and persecuted at the notorious Zhaoyuan brainwashing class for more than a month.

These atrocities represent only a fraction of the persecution endured by Qin Weidian and his wife Li Meixin during the past eight years.

Note

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
