Mr. Du Yihe, a practitioner from Dongcaiyuan Village, Sucun Town, Yinan County, has been subjected to numerous forms of severe persecution in the past several years, including instances when he was tied up and beaten until he lost consciousness. In June 2003, he was sentenced to three years in a forced labour camp, during which time he was tortured. He was released in May 2006 and again detained in May 2007.
At 11 a.m. on May 24th, 2007, Mr. Du was at home by himself. Jiang Chunxiao, Director of the Sucun Town Armed Forces, took four to five thugs with him and broke into Du's home. They started turning the home upside down. When Mr. Du tried to stop them, they beat him up and threw him into the vehicle that they arrived in. They then pushed him to the ground and punched and kicked him. Mr. Du is currently being detained at the Yinan County Detention Centre.
Mr. Du is in his 40's. After starting the cultivation of Falun Dafa, he tried hard to be a good person by following the teachings of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance". When the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, Mr. Du spoke up for Falun Gong as a practitioner who has experienced the benefits both physically and spiritually. As a result, he was detained. He was tied up and beaten by the director of the police substation. In February 2001, he was forced into a brainwashing centre, where they used torture and propaganda to try to get him to turn against Falun Gong.
On June 19th, 2003, Mr. Du was sentenced to three years in the notorious Wangcun Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province, where he was tortured repeatedly. All of the practitioners detained there, regardless of age, are forced to do heavy labour. Sometimes they were allowed only a 30-minute break at noon.
The practitioners who refused to give up their beliefs were forced to sleep in the passageway, on the cement floor, in the winter. Mr. Du was targeted for persecution there for one year and ten months. In the winter, he had to sleep in the hallway floor, with only a ragged sheet beneath him.
On March 14th, 2004, Sun Fengjun (police badge No. 3731211), the leader of Team Seven of the Forced Labour Camp, grabbed Mr. Du's head and rammed it against the wall.
On April 4th and 5th of 2004, a practitioner named Yan Shulu was handcuffed and taken to the office. He was beaten by three policemen including Jing Xusheng (badge No. 3731210), Zhang Tao (badge No. 3731221), and Feng (badge No. 3731254). Two of the policemen held him down, while the other one struck him in the face. In June, Yan Shulu was tortured in a basement in the Shandong No. 2 Forced Labour Camp. In spite of this, Yan Shulu still continued to do the Falun Gong exercises. After Yan was taken back, Mr. Du saw his terrible condition and decided to protest by going on a hunger strike. As a result, he was force-fed.
After Mr. Du was sent to the Wangcun Forced Labour Camp, his family was not allowed to contact him. On May 26th and 27th, 2004, the Wangcun Forced Labour Camp authorities called in Mr. Du's family twice to try and persuade him to eat. When Mr. Du's younger brother and his brother-in-law went to see him, the forced labour camp authorities only allowed his brother to see him. The police said to his younger brother, "If he eats, he will be allowed to do the Falun Gong exercises and read the Falun Gong books." They also lied and said that they did not beat Mr. Du. He immediately refuted that lie and showed how his toenail was torn off in one of the beatings.
On May 1st, 2006, Mr. Du was released. After his lengthy ordeal, Mr. Du was in poor health, but he has no choice but to go back to work in the fields to support his family. Unfortunately, after being at home for only one year, he was once again arrested and detained.
