Who Murdered Ms. He Yingqing from Hunan Province?

Ms. He Yingqing, a 41-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, was tortured to death after eight years of persecution. So tragic was her death that many people are heartbroken and have shed countless tears. Her workplace--Hunan Biology Electrical Professional Academy (formerly known as the Changsha School of Agriculture)--announced that it was Falun Gong that murdered Ms. He. This is no doubt a result of the eight years of persecution and evil propaganda against Falun Gong, and also of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) poisoning of Chinese people's values for decades. They murdered Ms. He and then cheated her colleagues and friends from knowing the truth.

Ms. He began practising Falun Gong in January 1999. After she began cultivation, many of her ailments, including migraines that had plagued her for years, disappeared. Moreover, because she lived according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, her morality improved greatly. Once, before she began cultivation, she found two gold rings and wanted to keep them for the future. She had already divorced and had to bring up her children. Her ex-husband refused to support her according their divorce agreement, and she lived in a village with her elderly parents. After practising Falun Gong, she gave the gold rings to the authorities. She underwent major changes in the way she interacted with other people. She was no longer frustrated over fame, self-interest, etc. and she lived a much more relaxed, happy life.

In July 1999, the CCP began persecuting Falun Gong using the entire nation's resources. Like thousands and thousands of Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. He's tragic end began with the persecution. For saying aloud the single phrase, "Falun Dafa is Good!" and going to the provincial government to appeal, she was illegally detained. After being released, her workplace actively joined the persecution and dismissed Ms. He without pay. They asked her to 'reflect' and give up her belief in Falun Gong.

In early 2001, along with the Furong District Political and Judicial Committee and local 610 Office¹, the Academy forcibly sent Ms. He into the so-called "Rule of Law Education Class." While it was known as an "education class," it is in fact a coercive brainwashing prison. Falun Gong practitioners are robbed of their basic human freedoms, imprisoned in a room, supervised by criminals, and forced to watch and read all kinds of books defaming Falun Gong. The goal of the authorities is to have practitioners write a so-called repentance statement and give up practising Falun Gong.

Under such "red terror" and combined with pressures from all aspects of society, from school, family and friends, who at that time sided with the CCP against Falun Gong, Ms. He suffered tremendous psychological pressure and, against her will, wrote the so-called guarantee statement. After being released from the brainwashing centre, Ms. He realised that she should not go against her conscience by lying, and immediately and publicly declared that all her statements written under immense pressure were null and void and that she would continue to cultivate Falun Gong. After this, her home was broken into, she was illegally detained for 15 days, and then imprisoned in a brainwashing centre for 14 months.

Because she refused to "transform²," in October 2003, Ms. He was sent to the Baimalong Women's Forced Labour Camp under the plotting of the Academy and the Furong 610 Office and was imprisoned for a year. In the forced labour camp, Ms. He suffered the most inhuman torture. She was not allowed to sleep or use the toilet, and was made to stand for prolonged periods of time and wear handcuffs. She was often beaten with electric batons. The police made 12 drug addicts grip her hands and force her to write guarantee statements that she would "divorce herself from Falun Gong." Once, Ms. He was handcuffed by the camp's special task force--a group dedicated to persecuting and brainwashing practitioners who persevered--for 40 days. Except for mealtimes, she was handcuffed for more than 20 hours a day and not allowed to sleep.

There were a myriad of ways to apply the handcuffs, but it was always done in such a way to apply the greatest pain. For instance, with one hand on top and one hand below, Ms. He could not stand up straight, but the guards made her stand upright and forbade her from moving. Sometimes a small stool would be pressed against her back, and she was forced to remain in a C-shape position while the guards laughed at her posture. Under such conditions, in less than 12 minutes, both hands would become numb. Then a guard would use electric batons to beat her until both her arms were black with bruises. After the handcuffs were removed, Ms. He could not tend to her basic needs for a very long time. One of her hands was totally paralysed. Both wrists had scars an inch wide and so deep that one could see her bones.

Under such inhuman torture at the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp, Ms. He's health severely deteriorated and she became emaciated. At the end of her sentence, the Academy made an excuse that they could not receive her during the holiday period and made her stay in the labour camp for an extra month.

In 2004, Ms. He Yingqing was finally released after an extended sentence. Yet, this was not the end of the persecution. After being released, she was imprisoned in a small room in the Academy for several months. The Academy sent people to "monitor" her twenty-four hours a day, and all her basic human freedoms were taken away. On the 2004 International Women's Day on March 8th, two friends (also Falun Gong cultivators), who visited her at the Academy were also detained by the school's Protection Section personnel, and reported to the police under false crimes.

On June 29th, 2005, Ms. He was once again taken into custody while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the truth about Falun Dafa at Hunan Agricultural University. She was sentenced to a year and a half of imprisonment in a labour camp, and sent into the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp once again. The labour camp was already furious over how their torture of her had been exposed to the international community, and began using even more brutal, despicable and underhanded methods to torture her both physically and psychologically. She was forced to write the so-called "transformation statements." She soon developed symptoms of illness, such as blood in her urine, frequent toilet use, a lung infection, pain in her chest, and coughing. As a result, her body deteriorated severely. Once, she was in such pain that she could not go downstairs to perform exercises, yet the guards ordered a criminal named Gao Meizhi to prevent her from visiting the toilet. She was forced to urinate in a bucket in the room and was loudly verbally abused by Gao.

Throughout this time, the Academy cooperated actively with the labour camp, and used many methods to "transform" Ms. He. She was told that she would be taken back to the Academy immediately if she wrote "transformation statements." In an effort to quickly free herself from the torture, she wrote the "transformation statements" against her will. However, the Academy reneged on their promise and she suffered another great blow. After more than 500 days of brutal torture, Ms. He's body had already collapsed. She was released from this living hell in late November 2006. She coughed and panted violently, had severe pain in her chest, frequently urinated and often urinated blood. These problems tortured her every day and in June 2007, the emaciated He Yingqing left this world in agony.

Ms. He Yingqing was persecuted to death by the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou. We have already lost count of how many practitioners have been lost in this evil abyss, or how many practitioners who survived it suffered irreparable scars and pain, but we do know that there are still practitioners suffering such torture and have their lives constantly trampled upon by the labour camp. Aren't the Academy, the Furong District 610 Office and brainwashing centres, as well as other related organisations, accomplices in the murders of Falun Gong practitioners?
