Turkey: Turkish People Express Support for Falun Gong.

From July 20th to the 25th, 2007, Turkish Falun Gong practitioners visited Selcuk in North Eastern Turkey, to raise awareness about Falun Gong and the Chinese communist regime’s persecution.

Practitioners went to the city hall first to introduce Falun Gong and expose the persecution in China to government employees. They visited Mr. Yusurf Yavas, an archaeologist working for the city government. Mr. Yusurf was very interested in Falun Gong. He said excitedly that he finally realised that what he had been waiting for in his deepest heart was Falun Gong. He indicated that he would learn Falun Gong exercises and read all Falun Gong books. He also said he would do his best to support practitioners’ activities in Selcuk.

During Falun Gong practitioners' stay in Selcuk, they also paid a visit to the local branch of the Haber Turk, a famous news agency in Turkey and held a long conversation with Ms. Deniz Dogan a part-time senior correspondent associated with the Son Havadis, a major newspaper published by the news agency.
Practitioners presented materials to her and explained in detail about the report of independent investigators David Kilgour and David Matas on the organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese communist regime, the status of prosecutions in many countries against the prime culprits who persecuted Falun Gong and the support that Falun Gong received from various governments, civil organisations and media around the world.

Ms. Deniz was shocked to know about the ruthless persecution that Falun Gong practitioners have been suffering in China. She stressed that the Chinese regime’s atrocity was intolerable and that anyone who has conscience and justice should stand up to oppose the regime’s inhuman conduct. Ms. Deniz said she would report the crimes of the Chinese communist regime in newspapers and magazines so that more Turkish people could understand Falun Gong and the truth about the persecution. When practitioners were about to depart, Ms. Deniz expressed her sincere thanks to practitioners for introducing Falun Gong, a wonderful cultivation way, to her. She said she had made up her mind and would start practising Falun Gong as soon as possible.

On the eve of leaving Selcuk, practitioners visited Zuhal Spor Okulu, a renowned sports institute where several sports champion winners were trained. The owners of the institute, Mr. and Mrs. Bahadir Uysal, offered a warm welcome to practitioners. They have been paying lots of attention to Falun Gong’s spread throughout the world and the persecution in China.

Practitioners also demonstrated the five Falun Gong exercises to a group of sports enthusiasts who trained together frequently. Many of them experienced sensations of comfort and magnificence in varying degrees.

To express his sincere support to Falun Gong, Mr. Bahadir reiterated for several times that Falun Gong practitioners are welcome to promote Falun Gong at their exhibition booth in the upcoming Selcuk Festival. Mrs. Bahadir also expressed that she would like very much to read Falun Gong’s main text Zhuan Falun. Practitioners promised to mail a copy to her in the future.
