The Minghui website (the Chinese version of Clearwisdom) reported on May 15th, 2007, that Mr. Chao Zhiming and his wife, Zhu Xiuying, had been constantly persecuted since July 20th, 1999, because they practised Falun Gong. They had been arrested more than once by the police from the Public Security Bureau of Yinchuan City, the Public Security Bureau of Lingwu City, and the Police Station of Lingwu Farm, and their home was searched. The police had repeatedly harassed them and confiscated items from their home worth nearly 120,000 yuan1. The persecution had inflicted physical and mental injuries on the couple, and their old illnesses had returned. Mrs. Chao had to undergo an amputation operation in 2001, and Mr. Chao became paralysed on one side of his body.
In early June 2003, Branch Chief of the Security Section of the Public Security Bureau of Yinchuan City Li Cun and a few other policemen stormed into Mr. Chao's home, pulled Mrs. Chao to the floor, and dragged her for about a dozen feet, breaking her arm. Afterwards, Mrs. Chao's diabetes and its complications worsened, and the injury to her arm wouldn't heal. She was so weak that she fell and broke her leg. She was bedridden since until she died on January 25th, 2006.
On the morning of June 14th, 2007, about 30 police officers from the Yinchuan City 610 Office, the Yinchuan City Police Department, the Yongning Police Department, and the Lingwu Police Department broke into Chao Zhiming's home and planned to persecute him. Chao Zhiming managed to peacefully resist.
Mr. Chao Zhiming suffered paralysis on one side of his body and experienced speech difficulties because of years of persecution. With the return of his former illnesses, he could hardly take care of himself, and ultimately died of a stroke.
