Germany: Raising Awareness about Falun Gong in a Small Town

On the first weekend in September 2007 when residents of Sunching Town in Germany’s Regensburg District celebrated their annual Village Festival (Volksfest), many residents were pleased to learn about Falun Gong. In the meantime, they were also shocked by the inside stories about the Chinese Communist regime’s harvesting of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners’ bodies.

Falun Gong practitioners in Regensburg set up a booth and placed the display boards on the ground early in the morning. As soon as they played the Falun Gong exercise music, the organiser of the adjacent booth came over to ask for relevant information. He also signed the petition against the persecution. When a practitioner demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises, more and more people came over to the booth. Many people seemed to be attracted by the peaceful exercises and gazed at the demonstration for a long while. A journalist from local daily newspaper took pictures. While the practitioners were demonstrating the second set of Falun Gong exercises, some people joked that the practitioners looked like statues.

Many local residents lowered their heads to carefully view the photos of cruel torture on display boards on the ground, and they said that it was inconceivable for such a persecution to take place. When hearing a practitioner saying that such a cruel persecution was still going on in China today, a male resident was too shocked to utter a word for quite a while. Some children also stated that they were sorry to see the photos about the cruel torture. A boy even took action to help stop the persecution right away by means of giving away flyers at a location quite far away from the booth. At midday due to sudden heavy rain, practitioners went to a shelter temporally after covering the booth with a piece of transparent plastic. A female who happened to pass the booth slightly opened the cover and signed the petition on her own, after viewing the truth material. After the rain was over, more and more people came over. They signed the petition one after another after accepting the material and hearing the facts about the persecution. Some of them even actively asked their family members or friends to join them in signing the petition.
