Several Practitioners Arrested by Police from Xingyang City, Henan Province

Recently, the 610 Office¹ and Public Security Bureau of Xingyang City, Henan Province, has been actively arresting Dafa practitioners from around the region.

On the morning of August 15th, five police officers from the Wangcun Police Station, including Wang Lijian from the 610 Office, went to Rongzai Village, Gaocun Township. They took practitioner Mu Jun into custody. Leaflets exposing the persecution were also confiscated.

At around 6:00 p.m. on August 14th, Wang Lijian and three others broke into the Plastic Processing Unit and arrested practitioner Mr. Wei Chengde while he was working. Someone had reported him to the authorities. Mr. Wei's house was also broken into and ransacked.

On the afternoon of July 1st, 69-year-old practitioner Ms. Li Xiuzhi from Magou Village, Gaocun Township, was arrested by police officer Zhao Weidong and others from the Xingyang National Protection Team while she was putting up posters exposing the persecution at the Xingyang Train Station. She was taken to Sunzai Detention Centre in Guangwu. On the same afternoon, two policemen from the Xingyang National Protection Team and the Gaoshan Police Station were led by the village Chief Cheng Guangchuan to Ms. Li Xiuzhi's residence. Her house was broken into and ransacked, and her books taken away. She was only released after 14 days of detention.

In mid-May, the police destroyed a leaflets production site in Xingyang, and several practitioners were followed, taken into custody, and tortured. At around noon on June 13th, Ms. Li Lanju was taken to the Sanlizhuang Detention Centre by 610 Office agents and imprisoned for a month. The police accused her of using her ID to rent rooms for practitioners. She was released on August 10th.

At around 11:00 a.m. on May 17th, practitioner Mr. Li Qinjun was tending to his bookshop as usual when five policemen, including Xu Yongchun from the National Protection Team, broke in, demanding that Mr. Li go to the Political Protection Section with them. Without anyone to take care of his two children, Mr. Li's father-in-law brought both kids to the police station and chided the police for their inhumanity. Mr. Li returned home that afternoon. At around 10:00 a.m. on June 7th, he was once again taken away by the National Protection Team headed by Yan Feng. He is currently being held in the Sanlizhuang Detention Centre in Xingyang City. According to sources, Mr. Li's teeth have been broken from police beatings.

At around 7:00 p.m. on May 11th, practitioner Ms. Nie Junhua from Xingyang City was arrested by the National Protection Team and imprisoned at the Sanlizhuang Detention Centre. She was forced to perform slave labour beyond her capabilities. For more than 12 hours a day, she was forced to string light bulbs. She was not given enough food, nor were her family members allowed to visit or pass gifts to her. After two or three months of persecution, the originally healthy Ms. Nie had become emaciated and was unrecognisable.

Additionally, on March 27th, practitioners Chen Qinglian and Ma Qingli from the Shangjie District of Zhengzhou City were reported to the authorities while they distributed flyers near Shidonggou, Gaoshan Township in Xingyang City. They were arrested, handcuffed, and taken to the Gaoshan Police Station. They are currently imprisoned in Sanlizhuang Detention Centre in Xingyang City.

During the past few years, the Xingyang 610 Office has sentenced five practitioners to imprisonment for from five to seven years. The 610 Office and Public Security Bureau of Xingyang City has also illegally sentenced 29 practitioners to forced labour camp terms. Three practitioners were sent to forced labour camps more than three times, 111 practitioners were detained beyond the detention limit, had their houses broken into, and were fined a total of more than 600,000 yuan².
