Russia: Paper Lotus Flowers Raise Awareness about Falun Gong

On the 1st and 2nd of September 2007, Falun Gong practitioners in Russia held two consecutive days of Folding Paper Lotus Flowers to Convey the Truth in the Square at Lenexpo Exhibition Centre, the largest of its kind in St. Petersburg. The place was packed with people as the Russian National Agricultural Economic Expo was on at the time, coinciding with “Culture Day” as well as the first day back to school. Practitioners could hardly cope with the number of people.

Practitioners showed people how to make paper lotus flowers and gave them to passer-by, explaining that lotus was a symbol for kindness, purity, and their well wishes to children all around the world, especially those in China. People were told that due to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution, many practitioners were tortured to death or incarcerated. Consequently, their children suffered from this persecution as well. Many were moved to tears by practitioners’ plight. People expressed indignation towards the evil CCP’s persecution of innocent citizens, especially its atrocities of organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners for profit. One after another they signed to support the Falun Gong protest. One lecturer at a medical school was stunned to learn the truth. He promised to expose the CCP’s crimes of organ harvesting during his lectures.

Some practitioners demonstrated the five Falun Gong exercises. The pure energy field attracted a crowd. Touched by the peacefulness of the practice, some followed the exercises on the spot while others wanted to learn more about Falun Gong.

During the event there were also many who had already learned about Falun Gong and they greeted the practitioners in a friendly way. Knowing the facts, they could tell truth from fiction. So, they stepped forward to support Falun Gong’s protest against the persecution. Many said that their stressed minds became relaxed. As a result they were very thankful to Falun Gong practitioners.
