18 Practitioners from Xiantao City, Hubei Province, Arrested

While 18 Falun Gong practitioners living in Xiantao City, Hubei Province, were still sleeping in the early morning of September 24th, 2007 (the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival), officers from the 610 Office¹ of Xiantao City, the National Security Group, the Special Police Group, and the local police station broke into their homes. They arrested practitioners and took away their Falun Gong books, cash, and private belongings.

Some of the practitioners were transferred to Wuhan City Brainwashing Centre. Some of them were transferred to the First Detention Centre of Xiantao City. The rest were transferred to Magang Brainwashing Centre, which is controlled by the 610 Office of Xiantao City. All the arrested practitioners were seriously mistreated.

Information about the arrested practitioners:

Mr. Liu Jun is over 40 years old. At around 1 a.m., the police began to break down the door of his home. After they broke in, they arrested Mr. Liu and took him to the Special Police Group. In the evening, he was transferred to the First Detention Centre of Xiantao City. His computer was taken away.

Mr. Hu Feixiong is about 30 years old. He was arrested and transferred to Magang Brainwashing Centre in Huchang Town, Xiantao City. Several computers in his home that were used for training were taken away.

Ms. Zen Xiaojiao is over 40 years old. When she was arrested, her bankbook was also taken away.

Mr. Zhou Yancai is over 50 years old. He is a teacher of the 8th Middle School of Xiantao City. Currently, his whereabouts is unknown.

Mr. Mao Jun is about 30 years old. He was jailed in the First Detention Centre of Xiantao City.

Ms. Shen Huanjiao is over 40 years old. She was jailed in the First Detention Centre of Xiantao City.

Mr. Zhang Zhibin is about 40 years old. His whereabouts is unknown.

Ms. Zhang Xinjiao is about 40 years old. Her whereabouts is unknown.

Ms. He is a retired teacher. Her whereabouts is unknown.

Ms. Zhong Danzhi is over 40 years old. She was arrested around 4 a.m. Her whereabouts is unknown.

Mr. Wang is a retiree from the Technology Bureau. He is close to 80 years old.

Ms. Chen Muying is over 50 years old. Her cash, properties, and bankbook were taken away. She is currently detained in a brainwashing centre in Wuhan City.

Ms. Liang Fuxiu is 56 years old. Her bank card, two cellphones, and a leather backpack were confiscated. The police broke through Ms. Liang's anti-theft door by using a half-metre steel rod and arrested her. Her whereabouts is unknown.

Mr. Wang Lagou is 78 years old.

Mr. Fu Lingjun is 29 years old. He is a teacher at the 8th Middle School in Xiantao City. Originally, he was detained in the First Detention Centre of Xiantao City. After that, he was transferred to Wuhan City. The police took away his three bank cards when he was arrested.

Ms. Xu Chunxiang is over 40 years old. She lives in Changshangkou Town, Xiantao City. She was arrested and sent to Magang Brainwashing Centre in Huchang Town, Xiantao City.

Ms. Zheng Jucui is over 50 years old. She lives in Changshangkou Town, Xiantao City. Her whereabouts is unknown.

Mr. Li Shanyang lives in Xiliuhe Town, Xiantao City. His whereabouts is unknown.
