Several Practitioners in Kangping County Arrested, Brainwashed, and Beaten

On September 13th, the Kangping County Police Department took practitioners Ms. Qi Jingru, Ms. Li Yuqing, Ms. Zhao Xiumei, and Ms. Liu Li into custody. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents tried to have Ms. Qi Jingru sentenced to prison. However, the case was turned down by the Procuratorate due to insufficient evidence.

Ms. Qi Jingru was detained in the Shenyang City Detention Centre located in Zaohua Town, Shenyang City. Ms. Li Yuqing and Ms. Zhao Xiumei were detained in the Zhangshi Brainwashing Class in Shenyang City. Ms Liu Li was beaten, resulting in cuts and bruises all over her body. To avoid responsibility, the police released Ms. Liu for medical treatment.

Ms. Zheng Xiuli and Ms. Chen Yuchun were released after each was extorted of 5,000 yuan¹. Several days later, on the afternoon of October 12th, 2007, Ms. Zheng was deceived into going to the Zhennan Police Station by two officers. Ms. Liu was also taken into custody. Ms. Zheng and Ms. Liu were sent to the Zhangshi brainwashing class. Ms. Chen was taken into custody by two officers of the Zhenbei Police Station and detained in the Kangping County Detention Centre.

Afterwards, the police took Ms. He Shaoyan into custody and detained her in the Shenyang City Detention Centre. She has been deprived of sleep for six or seven days.

The police also tracked and seized Mr. Quan Mingqi, and forced several practitioners to leave their homes and become destitute. Mr. Quan's current whereabouts is unclear.

This round of action was led by Zhang Wenjun (male) and Zhang Shufang (male), officers of the Kangping County Police Department, and controlled by the Shenyang City Police Department behind the scene. It is reported that the arrest action on September 13th was ordered by a director from Shenyang City and carried out by Zhang Wenjun, the deputy director of the Kangping County Police Department.
