On February 25th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners in Toronto held a rally in front of the Consulate General of Thailand to protest the unwarranted arrests of 19 Falun Gong practitioners in Thailand. The practitioners demanded that the Thai government immediately release the practitioners, who hold United Nations refugee status in Thailand.

One of the coordinators of the activity, Liu Jinan, said that the Thai police arrested the 19 practitioners on February 8th, 2008. The arrests took place as the practitioners were holding a peaceful protest against the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution in front of the Chinese Embassy to Thailand and distributing free copies of Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and Falun Dafa truth clarification materials at a tourist spot. These practitioners all have internationally recognised United Nations refugee status.
"We believe that the arrests are inhumane and illegal. Falun Gong practitioners in Toronto are very much concerned, and we hope that the Thai government officials can see clearly the CCP's true nature of deception and violence and not be controlled by it," said Liu Jinan.
He continued, "Today, we hope the Consul General of the Thai Consulate will forward our concerns over this incident and urge the government to quickly release the Falun Gong practitioners."
