The Persecution Ms. Zong Xiuxia Suffered before She Died

On the morning of February 22nd, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zong Xiuxia, a resident of Weifang City, Shandong Province, was reported while she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong near the Jialejia Supermarket in Kuiwen District. At around 11:00 a.m., Ms. Zong Xiuxia was taken to Guangwen Police Station and interrogated. That night, her family was notified to come down to the police station to identify and claim her body. It was noted that her time of the death was around 3:00 p.m. Her family was asked to acquiesce to their claim that Ms. Zong committed suicide.

Ms. Zong Xiuxia, born in 1952, began practising Falun Gong in 1996. Before she practised Falun Gong, she was sickly. After she started practising Falun Gong, she experienced miracles in her health.

In 2000, not long after the beginning of persecution of Falun Gong, in July, 1999, Ms. Zong went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to the Bamalu Detention Centre in Fangzi District, her home town. She was detained for a month and 5000 yuan¹ was extorted from her family.

Later, someone reported her while she was putting up posters exposing the persecution. She was arrested and detained at the Changning Police Station in Fangzi District. She was not released until she paid 1000 yuan.

Then, in December 2001, Ms. Zong was arrested and taken to the Brainwashing Centre at the Weifang City Industry Cadre's School, where she was forced to undergo brainwashing. After she had been detained for a month, another 7000 yuan was extorted from her before she was released from the brainwashing centre.

Recently, Ms. Zong was arrested because she explained the facts about Falun Gong to someone. From the time that she was reported, it was only a few hours until she had been tortured to death. And yet, it wasn't until 9:00 p.m that the Chinese Communist Party notified her family. Police from the station said that they got her name and address from a deposit slip they found in the bag she had been carrying. The police claimed that she had committed suicide by jumping from the escalator at People's Hospital. It was said that Ms. Zong was escorted by three strong policemen. How could she have possibly jumped from the escalator and committed suicide?

It came as a great shock to her family. Since her death, her husband's health has deteriorated and he suffers from severe depression. Their children are often seen crying.

In a few short years, nearly a hundred Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted to death in Weifang City. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members in Weifang City have committed monstrous crimes.
