It has been confirmed that Mr. Ba Shuqun, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Jinan City, Shandong Province, was unable to walk as a result of being tortured, yet he was taken to a courthouse in Tianqiao District, Jinan City on January 29th, 2008, for a secret trial and sentencing. According to a witness, several people dragged Mr. Ba Shuqun out of a car. His trial was scheduled to be on the second floor. However, it was difficult for several police officers to carry him up the stairs. Consequently, the hearing was then changed to another very small room on the first floor. When Mr. Ba was being interrogated, someone had to support him because he was unable to stand up and he was on crutches. He looked pale and wan.
After the trial, Mr. Ba was transferred to the Jinan Detention Centre, where he was further persecuted. The Shandong Province Police Hospital (formerly a labour camp hospital) claimed that Mr. Ba owed them a huge amount in medical fees, and therefore they refused to take him. The authorities totally ignored the fact that his injuries had gotten worse. Instead of arranging for medical treatment for Mr. Ba, the authorities continued persecuting him. Recently, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents claimed that they had some "new evidence" and notified him to await yet another trial.
It has been confirmed that before Mr. Ba was transferred to the Xinkang Prison, inside of the Shandong Province Police Hospital, his legs and pelvis were already fractured from being brutally tortured by CCP security agents and police from the Tianqiao Police Station. According to an informant from the detention centre, he still cannot walk.
Once a very healthy man, Ba Shuqun is now disabled because he was severely tortured. Those who have participated in persecuting him remain at large, and they did not pay any compensation, arrange medical treatment for Mr. Ba, nor release him unconditionally. Instead, they held each other responsible for what had happened and still continue to persecute Mr. Ba.
Mr. Ba Shuqun started practising Falun Gong in 1994. He became widely known as a good person. Mr. Ba Lihua, Ba Shuqun's father, previously worked in the Shandong Province Military Region headquarters. Both Mr. Ba Lihua and his wife cultivated Falun Gong along with their son. They benefited tremendously both mentally and physically. Ever since the persecution of Falun Gong was initiated on July 20th, 1999 by Jiang Zemin [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution], they have been severely pressured, and they passed away as a result of the stress.
Mr. Ba went missing on September 12th. By the time Mr. Ba's wife was notified by her workplace on October 25th that her husband was detained at the Tianqiao Police Station in Jinan City, Mr. Ba had already been detained for 43 days. His family members rushed to the police station the following day only to be told that Mr. Bu was no longer there, and he had been sent to the Xinkang Prison, inside the Shandong Province Police Hospital on September 18th. Mr. Ba's legs had already been crushed. The prison hospital ordered Mr. Ba's family to pay 9,000 yuan1.
The Shandong Province 610 Office and the Jinan City 610 Office2 are directly in charge of assigning CCP personnel in the province to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.
We again call for justice-minded people in China and abroad to help by paying close attention to rescuing Falun Gong practitioner Ba Shuqun, who is still being persecuted.
