The Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-controlled court in Daan City held a secret trial to sentence Ms. Ma Fengyi and Ms. Tang Shude, both Falun Gong practitioners, to five year terms around March 8th, 2008. Ms. Tang was carried out of the court after the sentence. Ms. Ma was in poor health.

Liu Yongbo, head of the Daan 610 Office1, along with Chen Yamin and others, fabricated the charges and reported the two to the authorities to be arrested. Ms. Ma's family had 20,000 yuan2 extorted from them, 10,000 of which went to Liu Yongbo alone. The remainder was split among the other perpetrators. Liu Yongbo forced the practitioners' families to pay another 10,000 yuan just before the trial.

Older Ms. Tang was destitute and homeless due to the persecution. She arrived at Anguang but was arrested and tortured until she could no longer walk. Nonetheless she was sentenced to five years.
