Remembering Fellow Practitioner Ms. Zhou Huimin

A few days ago, I learned that Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhou Huimin passed away at Qingyang People's Hospital in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, on March 15th, 2008. My heart broke, and tears ran down my face. She was a good person and was very kind and considerate to others. She died after 198 days of brutal torture. She hoped for the persecution to end soon and for everyone to have a bright future. She lost her precious life because she guarded her beliefs and strove to be a good person.

One time she told me about a time when a subordinate of hers did not do his job well on her day off. When she came back and held him responsible, he denied his mistakes and argued with her, making her very embarrassed. If she hadn't practised Falun Gong at that time, her subordinate would have been punished. However, Ms. Zhou reminded herself that she was a practitioner. She did not fight back. Instead, she looked inward and examined herself. She found her attitude to him was not correct and decided to eliminate it. Afterwards, her subordinate found her, admitted his fault, and apologized. The conflict was solved because she had looked inward. Her subordinate's attitude also changed, and he became more hard working from that time on.

When Ms. Zhou was the manager of this mold factory, her colleagues and workers learned from her that Falun Gong practitioners were good people with high moral standards. They also knew the truth about the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) brutal persecution of Falun Gong. She cared about her colleagues and helped them in any way she could, winning their respect. When her colleagues sent her gifts to thank her, she always sent more valuable ones in return the next day.

One time a destitute practitioner stayed with her for a time and broke six of her rice cookers. Instead of blaming this practitioner she was able to look inward to identify her own shortcoming

Ms. Zhou was locked up and tortured many times after the persecution started nine years ago. She wanted only to fight for her freedom of belief. She went on hunger strikes eight times, asking to be released unconditionally. Her longest hunger strike lasted 89 days, from September 2nd, 2002, to November 29th, 2002. During her hunger strike, her organs and muscles suffered severe atrophy. She was thus released. The long hunger strike damaged her so severely that she couldn't eat any meat or oil, just rice and vegetables. She never hated the guards and staff who tortured her. She told those who persecuted practitioners the facts about Falun Gong in peaceful ways. When she was imprisoned, many guards and staff members understood the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong and secretly protected practitioners whenever possible.

Practitioners guard their belief with their lives. I believe the day will soon come when people of justice will stand up against the CCP and say no to it.
