An Overseas Chinese Appeal for the Rescue of Ms. Tao Yi and Mr. Bao Jianwei

Several days ago I was surprised to hear that schoolteacher Ms. Tao Yi and her husband, Mr. Bao Jianwei had been arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities in China. I felt grief and indignation, and my conscience wouldn't allow me to remain silent. I was once a colleague of Ms. Tao Yi's, and I remember her being extremely amiable. The students also liked her very much.

Several years ago while I was visiting China, I met with her once again. I had not thought of Ms. Tao Yi's husband, Mr. Bao Jianwei. He had unexpectedly been subjected to over three years of imprisonment for practising Falun Gong and speaking out for justice. During his imprisonment, in order to achieve the goal of "reformation¹," the prison guards forced Mr. Bao to sit on a small backless stool, and deprived him of sleep. If he even slightly closed his eyes, the guards put a bag of ice on the top of his head. Mr. Bao used to have a full head of black hair, but now he actually has two bald spots, which exemplify the torture he has suffered. Hearing this helped me realize that all the reports I have seen while overseas, about how Falun Gong is being persecuted, are actually real!

After coming back to the US, I started to pay attention to Falun Gong and visit the Minghui/Clearwisdom website. I began to understand the severity and secretiveness of this persecution and how much it violates human rights. I was amazed by the Falun Gong practitioners' perseverance and courage, but I was angry about the indifference of international society. Ms. Tao Yi and her husband have been arrested once again, and I am pondering what kind of tortures and persecution they are being subjected to right now.

As their compatriot and friend, I cannot remain silent any longer. I am willing to inform the Minghui/Clearwisdom website, the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), and the rest if the world with all the information that I know of in order to bring all the evil people to justice.

Below is a current situation that I am aware of: the secretary of Ms. Tao Yi's school (last name is He, male, about 30 to 40 years old) colluded with police officer Liu Song, of the local police station, and carried out long-term tracking and surveillance of Ms. Tao Yi, that culminated in her arrest.

Ms. Tao Yi, is now imprisoned at the Lannigou Detention Centre in Guiyang City. Her husband, Mr. Bao Jianwei, is imprisoned at the Wudang Detention Centre in Guiyang City. We hope that kind people extend their helping hands to stop the persecution immediately and release these and all Falun Gong practitioners.
