At the weekend of June 7th, 2008, Scottish practitioners raised awareness about Falun Gong and the persecution in the city centre of Edinburgh. The activity consisted of a demonstration of the Falun Gong exercises and a signature collection calling for an end to the persecution of the CCP. Additionally, practitioners displayed a banner representing the 'Quit the CCP Service Centre'.
In the streets of Edinburgh, a Falun Gong practitioner raises awareness of the persecution |
Practitioners displayed the pictures depicting the CCP's brutal persecution of Falun Gong, made VCDs of the Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communist Party in both Chinese and English language available. On display were large banners calling for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong by the CCP, and a display of the signature collection for condemning CCP’s persecution of human rights under the name of the Olympic Games.
There were many people around at the weekend; many people were shocked and never even thought that there were still things like this happening when they saw the display boards of the brutal persecution. Lots of people came to sign the petition forms supporting the anti-persecution. There were also some passers-by who praised Falun Gong practitioners, saying, “Well done. Keep going” and “Great, you came out by sacrificing your own time”.
Many Chinese people received materials as well. A few tourists from China were very happy when they saw the practitioners and they took many photographs which they said they would show to the people back home in China.
