Practitioner Ms. Xiao Hongyan was arrested on May 13th, 2008, and is currently being held in Dongkou County Detention Centre. Practitioner Ms. Liu Qiju was arrested on July 28th, 2007, and is now imprisoned at Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou City. On the morning of June 2nd, 2008, Xiang Xuan, director of a legal institute in Dongkou Town, Dongkou County, Hunan Province, and an accomplice, went to the home of Ms. Xiao's relatives. They charged Ms. Xiao's son Xiang Zhiyuan and Ms. Liu's son Xiang Shuocheng with going on-line at an Internet cafe to demand the release of their mothers. The police wanted to arrest the two boys, but local village officials said both were still teenagers. The village head and secretary promised to assume responsibility for each boy and Xiang Xuan agreed. However, that night, Domestic Security Division officers still arrested Xiang Zhiyuan and confiscated the satellite receiver equipment in his home. Xiang Shuocheng managed to escape.
Xiang Xuan has a list of names and fabricated a rumour that practitioners wanted to steal the Olympic torch, so everyone on his list had be taken into custody until the torch passed through Hunan Province from May 30th to June 6th. The first two names on the list were Mr. Xiang Youhai and Mr. Xiao Lidan. The police arrested numerous practitioners on the night of June 2nd, 2008. The former chief of Zhushi Town Police Station Xiao Yan and his subordinates broke into the home of practitioner Mr. Xiao Lidan in Jinzhai Village, Zhushi Town, in hopes of arresting him the same night. Mr. Xiao managed to escape and has since left home to avoid persecution.
It is unknown whether the others have been released as of June 8th, 2008.
