Agents from the Yi County National Security Division have closely followed the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) orders and frequently harassed and arrested local Falun Gong practitioners leading up to the Beijing Olympics.
On June 3rd, 2008, agents from the National Security Division ordered officers from the local police station to arrest three Falun Gong practitioners. As a result, two practitioners were sentenced to forced labour, and one was tortured until he became disfigured. That practitioner was subsequently rejected by the labour camp and then released.
On June 29th, 2008, agents from the National Security Division in the county all went out, headed by director Jiang Cheng and instructor Wang Ning. They first went to practitioner Mr. Zhang Dianguo's home. Mr. Zhang and his family were arrested and detained. Later, his home was ransacked. Mr. Zhang's mobile phone, a calendar, and two blank tapes were confiscated. On June 30th, 2008, Mr. Zhang was able to escape.
Agents from the National Security Division monitored Mr. Zhang's two children around the clock. They tried to deceive the children into telling them about who contacted their father, but the children did not cooperate.
For a practitioner from another township, the National Security Division's harassment lasted for over a year, and they frequently harassed him. In just one month last year, they went to his home three times. More recently, they went to his home four times on a single day. On the morning of July 1st, 2008, they went to his home to try to arrest him. They have not succeeded in doing so.
The agents also checked telephone numbers stored in the mobile phones that they confiscated and then went to the addresses of the numbers to investigate. On June 30th, 2008, they went to a person's home and forced him to register his contact information, so that he could be monitored.
