Employees of Tangshan Sanyou Group Company, Ltd. Persecuted at Manufacturing Plant

During the Olympics and its Torch Relay, Falun Gong practitioners were tortured at their workplace, the Tangshan Sanyou Group Company, Ltd. The plant director organized the security department, the sub companies and other workshops to have meetings, and the Falun Gong practitioners were pressured from all levels of the plant. All plant directors are required to sign the guarantee statements¹. They monitored the practitioners to prevent them from appealing in public or participating in activities related to Falun Gong.

The plant recently recruited a person to the security department. It also assigned workers from all the workshops to organize a so-called the "Olympics security group." Specific workers were assigned to patrol the workplace, the residential building and the residential gates around the clock.

At about 9:00 p.m. on July 17th, 2008, the Patrol Team arrested a 70-year-old retired worker, who is a Falun Gong practitioner. Mr. Liu Wenbo was at the North Gate of the residential building area. Later, seven to eight police agents headed by Gao Xueguo (male), director of the Sanyou Police Station, searched Mr. Liu and found a key to his room. They opened the door and ransacked Mr. Liu's home. He was detained at the Changningdao Detention Centre, Tangshan City during the night. On August 2nd, 2008, the police from the Nanbao Developing Zone Department in Tangshan City and the Sanyou Station took Mr. Liu to the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labour Camp. He was sentenced to forced labour there, and his pension was also withheld.

Since July 24th, 2008, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials from the Tangshan Sanyou Group Company, Ltd. have monitored practitioners Mr. Xiao Guoqi, and his wife, Ms. Liu Fengying, around the clock. They assigned a vehicle, a driver and a deputy director to monitor both practitioners in front of their home and report on them. The stakeout started over 20 days ago and continues.

The persecution targeting other practitioners in the Tangshan Sanyou Group Company, Ltd. is listed as follows.

A male relative, Liu Dongsheng, was assigned to watch Mr. Zhou and his wife, Ms. Zhang Chunzhi, and report at scheduled times.

Mr. He Wenjiang, of the Environmental Protection Department, was deprived of his time off. The directors at the government-owned plant forced him to work on weekends so they could track him.

They also took away the ID's of an elderly couple and forced their family members to monitor Mr. Zhang Yongqing and his wife.

1. "Guarantee Statement": A statement to declare that one is remorseful for practising Falun Gong and guarantees not to practise Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Gong practitioners.
