Young Zhenzhen's Wish: To Be Reunited with Her Parents and Brother, Who Are Being Detained and Brutally Tortured

Yu Zhenzhen is a pretty, ten-year-old girl in China. She studies at the Baita Primary School in Dadong District, Shenyang City, and was supposed to begin the fourth grade on September 1st. She was hoping that her mum could take her to school like her classmates on the first day of school and that her little brother could meet her at the school gate when she finished class. However, her mother Ma Li, and her little brother were secretly arrested on August 13th by police officers from the Liaoning Province Public Security Bureau. No one knows where they are.

Zhenzhen's father, Yu Ming, was a successful businessman in the garment industry in Shenyang Province, and he is a Falun Gong practitioner. Since his arrest in Beijing in 2006, he has been severely tortured and force-fed in the Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp in Beijing. He was tortured so severely that he is skin and bones. His hands and feet were injured, his hair almost all fell out, and he was not able to stand up. He was transferred to the Masajia Prison Hospital and has been detained there for over a year. For several years Zhenzhen lived with her mother and hardly spent any time with her dad due to his detention.

Mr. Yu Ming is thirty-seven years old. He started practising Falun Gong in 1997. The principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance benefited him both physically and mentally. He employed many people, and his garment business became more and more prosperous.

After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, Mr. Yu was arrested several times and was once detained in Beijing and Tangshan. He experienced torture methods including beatings, electric shocks and force-feedings. Forty policemen standing in two lines shocked him with electric batons. They forced him to take sexually-stimulating medicine, then stripped him naked and put him into a cell with females. Officers also forced him to stand beside a hot iron furnace in the hot summer and locked him in an iron cage for three months, where he could neither stand up nor lie down. They tied him down to the ground and shocked his penis with an electric baton. They poured cold water over him, tied him in a certain position and then electrically shocked his private parts. He was so severely tortured that he was dying when he was released on bail for medical treatment. He looked like an old man even though he was only in his thirties. His family hardly recognized him.

After Zhenzhen's father Yu Ming was arrested, the garment factory couldn't continue to operate. Her mother had no source of income and had to sell her jewellery to live, and rely on the help of relatives. Zhenzhen was very considerate, and her mother seldom got angry with her.

With both of her parents in detention, ten-year-old Zhenzhen now has no one to take care of her. She is hoping to be reunited with her parents and littler brother.
